My brakes have been squeaking in reverse only. It has gotten worse over time and is at this point so loud it almost hurts my ears in the cabin. It does get slightly better as the brakes heat up though. Would new pads solve this? What can I do to stop it, makes the car feel so cheap...:at-wits-end:

Antisqueel on the pads and backing plates? That should help. It's a pretty common problem on lots of cars.

What year is your FX?
The pre 05 shims were superseded in mid '05 and my car is in the middle of it.
Makes me wonder if the aftermarkets pads were designed on the orginal pads.....
Believe me new pads is not a sure way of getting rid of it. I have owned my FX for 4.5 years and 3 different sets of brake pads! All in 25k miles! I am also currently thinking of what to do. I am actually willing to go back to stock oem pad with the "updated" shims. Now do I give up the low dusting of aftermarket pads or the updated but dusty oem.
My 25k experience:
Bosch Quiets (came with the car, squealed)
Wagner Thermoquiets front and rear (only had them for 5k miles, the "built in shims" is terrible flaw)
Duralast Max Ceramics front and rear (current and squealing)

La-fx35 how did you like those pads? I read a few reviews saying the akebono performance street pad that they offer for the FX doesn't bite initally as well as oem... I believe the Proact should have even less bite since it's a much quieter pad.
It has been quite awhile ago that I'm brake on stock/standard brake setup since i have BBK on. I can't remember if its bite more than oem or not. I'm sure other will charm in on this.
