Brake vibration , rotor issues

Hi boys,

I recently felt a vibration when I press the brakes. I went to my local workshop and he advised to buff the brake rotors and sand down a little the brake pads.

Once that was done I still felt a slight vibration

Also the wear pattern on my rotors look uneven. I uploaded a few pictures of the rotors ...Any advice ??

Go for a drive and bring the car up to around 30 mph, hit the brakes hard, but not to the point of locking them up, until you are down to around 5 mph. Do this 4 or five times, then recheck the wear pattern on the rotors.
 
I have this also. Sroptech has a nice write up about how this forms.

You make a hard stop for stop sign, come to stop and keep the brakes mashed hard. The material melts onto the rotor at the stopped position.

Now that that part is fatter, you are more like to stop there to the problem continues to build up in that location.

In the long term I want to upgrade pads for sure, possibly rotors.
 
I have a 17’ QX70 S and my rotors are warped again. I purchased the car with 8500mi and I thought I felt it back then. So around the 20k mark. And now at 51k they’re warped again. I’ve owned a 03’ & 07’ FX had the same problems. I’ve never had this problem on my sport cars. I feel the problem is the caliper & rotor combination is not large enough for the weight of the vehicle. I was considering the big brake kit. I feel this should solve the problem. I also spoke to a mechanic friend and he said you may want to just upgrade the pads (Ceramic) & rotors (Drilled & slotted). For only $400. BB kit is $1800 big difference.
 
I’ve read over torquing the lug nuts can warp our rotors. 370Z guy found this out after burning thru sets.

no one believed him, even the GTR tech.

This will be a bit of a kick in a Infiniti direction. New here but have owned my car since nearly new, (5000 km).Its an Fx30dS.
Bought at a Infiniti center, always serviced by Infiniti until 2020 when it is impossible mental for me.
Now, I have had the same break issues for litttle more than 15 months. (I have also have squeeking brakes in the rear for 5 years that NO
Infiniti Factory has managed to fix but thats a diffrent story i have written of to fix, its a permanent bug and a consumer pitch from Infiniti to me now when
Im thinking of what family hauler im to buy next) I also have a few other issues that are pure quality issues.

I relocated so I had to leave my Inifiniti Center Berlin, Germany during 2018 so I was sadly forced to change infi center factory.

I have changed discs and pads 3 times during this period, also a set of wheel barings in the front. it eats a set of discs every 5000 km.
I have had in at an official Infiniti Factory who said its the discs, twice. so they changed, same result...
I drove another 6000 km this summer so I need to change again....


After digging and asking around with factoris in UK and Germany I will try myself.
I will:
Take away all the old parts.
Brush and clean EVERY thing with steel brush, shaft hub, wheel hub inside of the rim.
Install a caliper renovation kit (Put on new guide pins,bolts etc,) and then
back on with the new discs and pads.

According to experienced mechanics it might be not cleaned (rusty) surfaces
in combination with bad guide pins that is cuasin the vibration.

All You that have vibrations, try and drive the car and break as is written before above, then clean
the inside of the front rims thouroughly. Repeat the procedure and feel if there is a difference.
In my case I can feel the dirt on the rims give me more vibrations.

I will be back with reporting when im finished with the change, Im an enthusiast of another german produced sports car. I must stress I get completely surprised over the
incompetence and low level of knowledge of the mechanics in the Infiniti Center Facories outside Germany so far. A pure joke!

I have written to Infiniti Europe and pointed this out after my experinces. The only answer I get is a recomendation to go back to the factory again and let them fail again.
The only things they have been sucessful with is keeping my car for a long time...

That doesn't surprise me, Infiniti is pulling out of Europe, so we're kind of on our own now. I don't care, never went to a Infiniti dealer, waaaaay too expensive and have no clue what their doing, just find a decent garage that knows what its doing and get your parts from Nissan or online, something like Rockauto.

I had vibration issues under braking as well. The OE discs and pads are not the greatest; so I went with aftermarkets and never looking back. I use DBA Te 4000 pads and Hawk HPS5.0 pads. I stopped going to the dealer once the warranty expired; they are horrible. There's a shop that is a bit of drive from me, but I have them do all the work and its great.
Let us know once you have the issue sorted
 
i have also vibrations when i brake, i am disapointed because i have replaced rotors ans infiniti say me that it is the gearbox now.............
can you help me (from france)
 
I got 105,000 miles out of my first set of OEM rotors. 15,000 miles on cheaper aftermarket ones so far.

no squealing at all either. I rarely jam the breaks hard because I’m always paying attention to the traffic ahead of me and I don’t tailgate either.

I don’t track my car either… it’s just my daily driver.

Something new: it vibrates also when I brake with the foot brake (manual), which, if I am not mistaken, is on the rear wheels, which pushes the front discs apart, the rear discs have already been changed as a preventive measure. it would therefore be more of a transmission problem. What do you think ?
