Brake squeal during right turns

Hey guys,

Looking for any thoughts you might have. Noticed a low volume brake squeal / mild scraping type sound coming from my driver side front when turning right.

A few notes:

- it only occurs when moving forward, and only when turning right
- it's not the dust shield (i hoped it was, but when i checked, it's clear)
- I just hit 80K on the odometer

I'd appreciate any feedback/ideas.

Edit: Doing more research online, I'm coming to the conclusion that it's probably a bad bearing.

thanks in advance!

Is it a metallic scraping sound or different? When you checked the dust shield, was your wheel turned right? If you haven't done so yet, I would turn the steering wheel right, then lift the car and spin the wheel to see what the sound could be. The dust shield and pads move with the wheel so I don't think turning would impact the noise. If it's not a tire rubbing, then you may be right about the bearings.

Thanks for your thoughts-

It's a sound similar to when I apply my brakes (I have track pads, so they are "squealy"), along with a little "metal scrape" mixed in. I had the car up, removed the wheel and cranked her right to check for clearance with the shield.

And the pads are still in good shape? It could be the wear indicators. Turning may shift the pads a tiny bit and causing the sound. Bearings should be more "grinding" or rough.

If the pads are good and the shields are not making contact and the calipers move freely in and out on there guides then try re bedding your brakes.
