Brake+slip+vdc off warning lights

so did you end up fixing it? the dealer said that when everything is said and done this WILL NOT happen again.

I never fixed it. Mine started happening shortly after I had a ground wire kit installed. I took a couple wires off, resealed the wire going through the fire wall with silicon, and haven't had it happen again for 2 years now.

Dealership had told me it was a ground wire issue located behind the dash. They were going to have to take the dash out to fix the 2 wires. The problem was so rare, 1-2x in 6 months, I wasnt going to spend $1000 to fix it.

About the same time my throttlebody went out.... all coincidence? I dont know, but the throttlebody was replaced under warranty, I took off the ground wire going there before going to dealership, and never reinstalled it. Now I have no more issues.

I can vouch for this brake fluid fix, I've had this problem for a few weeks but I never had any issues with my brakes and my mechanic said the brakes were still perfectly fine I was just going to ride it out until I needed to change new pads. Seen this post a few days ago then went to Auto Zone to get some fluid and TA-DA ! the lights are gone :D
p.s. my brake fluid was on min.

The brake fluid is generally the fix for when the lights on the dash go on.

BUT, when the lights go on, coupled with pressing down on the gas pedal and getting no power, we've narrowed it down to:

cam sensor
Throttle body
Grounds

he said something like the intake valve was misfiring so the sensor malfunctioned

so this is what they did:
item-check engine and ses light is on. vehicle stalled and vdc and brake light came on replaced crank sensor.
--electrical systems concer ip007 --labor $210
--crankshaft position -- $116.69

he said there was sludge somewhere and this is also what they did:

perform engine flush with recommended repairs
--moc engine flush --$74.00
--oil
--oil filter
--moc oil change flush
--replement drain wash ----total $69

perform complete fuel system service with recommended repairs peformed fis
--moc comp fuel system cln-mfsc $157.68
--moc fuel inj service --$24.80
--moc prem fuel & cham--$62.47

i was mistaken my car has about 68k miles on it. i dont know if i got ripped off or what! by doing all that cleaning or is that normal at my mileage. they did all the brake work too and there is absolutely no squeeling screeching of any sort im very happy with that. he said it cost alot because the sensor was far in or something like that. he also said they barely ever break down. lucky me.

also the funny thing is that he estimated the repairs to be $1200. he said to replace the sensor incl labor $850. and to do the brakes $250. so do u think he did all that flushing and all that stuff to make the total fit the estimate cost? was that all necessary? i have a feeling i got swindled big time!!!!! when does one normally do all that flushing and stuff? sorry im not a car person which is probably why i had a huge target on my back.

when all was said and done, towing, sensor replacement, labor costs, back brakes, taxes, etc $1100 bucks!

Ok to fix your problem was $326.69 for the cam sensor.

All the other stuff? oil change for $69? That better have been synthetic. Engine Flush $74? must be a coolant flush. As for the engine injector cleaning/ fuel system cleaning/ fuel and cham..... I think you got ripped off. I believe these are just things the dealer adds on that are never needed.

Overall you could have been out of there for $326 and a working car. The sensor itself is only $116 and a pretty easy diy.

i know i have that feeling icky feeling that i have been ripped off, but, so when in a car's life (years after purchase) is the fuel injection cleaned and the engine flushed? at 100k miles? and what purpose does this serve? also he said that sensor was way in the engine that's why it took so long to fix meaning probably he was finding other ways to rip me off this whole weekend. i think from now on im going to ted wien's i think i trust them to tell me the truth. ALL dealerships ive ever had were total rip offs, but i keep thinking that they know best and will put the best parts in and will do the best job. what really is an after market part vs a market part i guess lol?

Last week i had the same warning lights come on PLUS my gauges, heat/ac, 'manual' shift all stopped working. One shop has told me that they traced it to a CAN line, but that to further diag it could take an entire two days(possibly longer, though they've never taken longer) at $150/hour plus whatever the cost to repair would be.....taking it to another shop for a second opinion because i didn't like the way they conducted business.

yeah don't take it to the dealership! it was just the first two items that was supposed to be the total cost it is definitely an electrical issue. it happened friday and i got a loaner for the weekend and got it back monday 5 pm. the dealership also told me it was a sensor way in the engine thats why it took so long. i dont know to me it was alot of BS! good luck with yours though!
