Brake Service Pricing

I just had my breaks checked at 43k. They said my front rotors needed to be surfaced and turned and the rears were shot. Quoted me 360 for complete rear and 80 for front rotors.. Is this an acceptable price or should I be shopping around for cheaper... Thanks

im wondering the same thing myself...

brakes are shot at 27k :zip:. Quoted ~700 for rotors + brakes or 400 for brakes alone (all 4)... so your price seems to be MUCH better.

although ive read that installing spring should only run ~200. So i still think 300 for brakes is high

i was told the price was higher because the parking break assembly was built into the rear break system. It makes sense since my parking break is non existant these days

That price seems like a little high. I just had my rears done (rotors and pads) and the mechanic charged $75 for labor. I bought the premium drilled and slotted rotors along with the factory style ceramic pads for $190 (rotorpros) delivered to my door. Total price was $265, if I would have gotten the factory style rotors I would have save an additional $70. The drilled and slotted very little for braking performance, but look nice.

Purchased drilled + slotted rotors and ceramic brake pads from brakemotive (seller) on ebay a couple weeks ago. Price was $230 shipped.

Did them myself in about 4 hours (on 1 hour of sleep after a night of fishing!).

I bought a full set of oem pads for about 125 online, and got a set of new rotors from r1 concepts with painted hubs for 220, then paid a mechanic at a local Brakes Plus for two hours of labor to install everything. I also had him install my 20mm spacers and a full set (20) of new lugs. Service performed at 38k miles.

Cost...
Pads - 125
Rotors - 220
Install - 150
Total for completely new brakes... ~$500

(The spacers and lugs were ~$180 shipped)
