Brake pedal travel

Curious if the brake pedal travel on an FX is normal to have about 1-2" of free play before the brakes start to apply?

Recently traded in my '10 Honda Accord which had fantastic "as soon as you touch the pedal, you stop" brakes.

Pedal doesnt feel spongy like there is air in the lines just seems to be excessive travel before the brakes feel like they start working.

Thanks for the replies. I guess it takes some getting "used to" Sad to say though, my dream ride is slowly making me question my decision to give up my Honda!! :confused.:

I guess it is a tradeoff issue. I noticed the slower reaction time of the brakes too the first time I rode my car.

While I was visiting a friend in TX a few months back, a friend allowed me to drive her fully loaded '11 Toyota Highlander and I immediately notice and appreciate the responsiveness of the brakes, very soft ride, lesser road feedback and how soft the steering felt when turning it. These does not necessarily made me wish, I had a different ride though.

At the end of the day when you factor in the positive aspects, IMO, a fully loaded FX is like having a full time co-pilot driving the car with you. You felt safer and you would know that there's a lot of power under the hood that will back you up when you needed it.
 
Brand new cars always have quicker grabbing brakes due to the pads being thicker when new. I drove my uncle's G37 over Thanksgiving and had to get used to the brake catching much earlier to keep from giving everyone in the car whiplash. My mom's RX330 was the same when it was new. I think when I drove it over Thanksgiving also it was not as bad.
