i got a question, has any1 ever used the stock tape player, my guess is probably not lol , but i was thinking of getting a tape adapter for my ipod? im not going to integrate it as i have more better things to mod and spend my money on, so if i get the tape adapter the ones you usually plug a cd player in would it work with the ipod? will it be clear? my guess is that its better then the ipod transmitter as it has to get signal and the adapter is right into the system, any suggestions ?

sry what you mean digital to analog? meaning the ipod digital to the tape analog? would it be at least clearer then the ipod transmitter? has any1 tried it?

I heard that the tape is more clear than the transmitter. My brothers girl has a transmitter and it sounds not too great.

Just like you, I don't really need to mod my car to play my IPOD.

I use the tape deck on the FX. Sound is good. It just depends what type of Tape adapter you get.

I have one from SONY... best one out there. Also make sure you use the option for Dubly quality. It should get rid of that sound a tape makes when there is dead air.

the Sony tape is about 15 buck on ebay..

really ? that sounds pretty good to me, and what is option dubly quality may i ask? lol

also i didn't know there was a certain adapter thats good? i thought they were all the same, i was going to go get one from the local dollar store, i'm trying to aim for the loudness that my cds would get so thats why im going this route rather then the transmitter

You wont be able to get that real CD quality when you trun up the volume.

The key is to get you IPOD volume at about 70% volume and then adjust the volume on the dash and it should get you the best quality.... Just play with it.

As for the Dolby option..on my FX with the tech package you have the option on the option dial settings.

press it down and it should take you about 4 clicks to get to that option.

this is the ICON you would see and select it...

damn i dont have that dolby option, dont got the tech pack, like i said i dont wana spend too much and get into the integration into the unit, i think that site says $230 or something, id rather put that towards the lowering springs, but as long as the cassette adapter is better then the transmitter i will be happy

so i bought the tape adapter for the ipod and i have to say its horrible, im diffantly bringing it back, the transmitter is much better, i forgot to buy the cd cleaner shit but next time i will

so lately i have been slacking and been using my ipod transmitter and not my cds, i got the cd cleaner crap today and it didn't work, i guess its time for a visit to the stealership, how much would another unit cost me? would it be cheaper just to take out the clock , make a template and put after market deck ? if so how much roughly wud it run for an install like that?

I was able to do this install myself in a couple hours. I can't imagine that a shop would charge more than like 150 for labor to do this. Then you would of course have to add in the cost of the HU.
