Coming from an FX45 which had a quiet but satisfying unique exhaust, I was devastated that Infiniti completely ruined the FX50 exhaust. For those of you that wonder what the muffler delete sounds like, it's relatively easy to unbolt only the rear muffler section and take a short drive to see what it sounds like. Those that comment on it being loud are 100% correct and most wives will not approve. The tone is surprisingly good, but just be prepared for loud.
I should have tried a resonator delete but I decided to go straight to the Borla kit. My left and right Borla pipes at the cat were mislabeled from the factory so that was fun figuring out why the pipes were hitting the underside of the car. Got that figured out and I'm finding the Borla to be pretty quiet but very deep. There was a poster here I believe that commented on it being a tad bit louder than stock and I would agree. I've read other comments on the Borla making their car sound like a beast and that is completely misleading. It sounds like what I would expect a stock tame v8 exhaust to sound like. Nice from the outside and barely noticeable inside. Way quieter than a stock exhaust on a Rustang, Corvette or any of the 6.4L Dodge products.
If you're still rolling with the stock exhaust, I highly recommend doing something as you're really missing out. Resonator delete would be a very cheap way to start and people seem to be happy with that. Custom exhaust from a specialty shop would be another great option. If I had the option to purchase again, i don't know that I would buy Borla.
