Saw one of the test vehicles on the road yesterday. Probably this one, and had a plate from SC so it was going somewhere from the factory. But same vinyl on the bumpers, mirrors, and vents. The grills were exposed.

In real life, this thing looks insane. I could not stop looking at it and even my wife thought it looked really cool. I couldn't really sell her on the current model, but she would go for the new one. It looks much, much more aggressive than the current one. So maybe this will be the FX replacement in another year or two.

I was driving the 335 so ironically he caught me to get a better look and I spent all my time looking at him.

Havnt seen any pictures besides that one of the new X5M, but the new X5 is an ugly car IMO. I liked the previous generation much more.

Now it just looks like a really tall X3 to me.

Also what is the deal with BMW and new models, its utterly ridiculous how many cars they make. X1, X3, X5, X6, and now there is to be an X7.

In the car lineup they have a 2 series, 3 series, 4 series, 5 series, 6 series sedan, 6 series coupe, 7 series.

That does look really nice. I saw the new m3 (f80) yesterday and wow, what a car. I've always been more fond of the e46 > e92 in terms of styling, but the f80 is definitely a looker.

Looking at a few more pictures, what really bothers me about the new X5 is those ugly little fog lights incorporated so high up in the actual bumper.

If the new X5m gets some aggressive front fascia and ditches those, it would look immensely better.

I like the tall X3 look, the current model looks mean from the front, but then it's a giant box in the back. The new one looks a little sleeker and the slope of the tail looks more like the FX to me. And if I owned one, it wouldn't stay tall for very long. It's hard to explain how different it looks in real life. I didn't like the pictures I saw before, but now that I've seen one in person, it's way better. Plus the supposed lighter weight coupled w/ 560 hp...

And agreed, BMW makes a ton of models - don't forget the 4 series gran coupe, the 6 series gran coupe, the 5 series GT, and all the different engine options. But MB added a ton of cars too and so did Audi. MB added the CLA, GLA and already has a dozen other models. Audi added the A3 sedan, Q3, and already added the A7 a few years ago.

The one I saw on the road didn't have fogs, just the big vents. But it was hard to say with the camo. It looked more aggressive than that pic, the vents were a little bigger.

It's all preference; but I will say that the one I saw had less camo and seeing more of the actual final design, it looks much better than all the pics I've seen. I personally don't like the Macan, but lots of people think that's the prettiest new SUV out there. I like the current X5M, but the back end is looking very dated, the new one has a much sleeker tail light setup.

My FX is an '07, so at some point in the next couple of years I'm going to replace it, maybe even next year. I like that the FX handles like a car so it's replacement is going to be a CUV type vehicle. Only thing I don't like about the FX is that it's really slow and could use more cargo space. So basically my requirements are slightly bigger than the FX and stupid fast. Every day, I see supercharged RR's, X5M, X6M, Cayenne Turbo's, ML63's and all of them would fit the requirement of bigger than the FX and stupid fast. But for whatever reason, the F85 X5M I saw yesterday was the first one that got me excited enough to actually research it and wonder what it would be like to own.
