Blown Fuses

Hey Guys,

I've been blowing the fuse for the cigarette lighter for 2 weeks now. I replaced it last year and no problems. The fuse lasts about two days and its done. I dont smoke I just charge my phone with it. Any ideas guys?

suggestion: dont plug your phone into that location!

use the one inside the center console.

btw how do you get those highscores so fast (playing time?)

Hey whats up merchant,

Its weird i was changing the fuse for the cigarette lighter and there is like a bunch of wires in there all taped up and didnt feel like messing with it at work but what i will try is all new fuses for all the outlets. I have been through 2 chargers thinking that was the problem but to no avail. Most of the scores are playing time but sometimes the computer does weird things. lol! Yea, i like the games.

It's generally not recommenced to use the cigarette lighter for adapters but usually because the adapters can wreck the tabs that hold the lighter in. I'm not sure if an adapter can cause the problem you have but you probably have to replace the socket.

I will have the dealer check it out on the next oil change since i still have some warranty left. I never heard that about the outlets but i will look into it.

Thanks guys for the help!

Thank god for the extra battery! Use the blackberry for everything!

Mine used to pop fuses like crazy, mine was replaced and I threw in a higher fuse and no issues now

Well i tried a 20amp fuse this mrng and everything seemed fine until i pulled the car charger out of the socket and i heard a small pop noise come from the fusebox area. All i could do was crack up! I put in a new fuse at lunch time and it seems to be so far so good.

Funny i just started having this same problem. my center console fuse popped while using my phone charger, so i started using the cigar lighter. this worked for about 1 week, until that fuse popped too. i replaced both fuses, and tried the center console and it popped right away. i opened up my phone charger to make sure the wires weren't shorted inside, and it actually has a 2A fuse inside it, that is still intact and working fine. i'm going to keep an eye on this thread. hopefully someone has a solution to this problem.

So after playing around for a little while last night, i figured out that it is due to the poor design of my car charger. everything is fine when using my GPS power cord, but the car charger pops them every time. funny cuz it worked for a while with no issues. turns out that the spring clips on the side of the charger that are connected to ground actually short out to the center conductor INSIDE the charger. This is what was popping the fuses. glad to learn it had nothing to do with my FX
