Looks good! I tried doing this not too long ago but it didn't come out good. I think it was because of the cold weather when I was doing it. It sprayed out chunky and did not smooth out.

yes! i had this problem! you have to let the can stay at room temp as you shake it. once you do that you can spray it in the cold and then bring it back inside asap!

how can i smoke my tails? what do i use?

Oracal makes a tinting film specific to tail lights.

I just did my reflectors and 3rd brake light with it. Might want to give that a try.

Tinting taillights with film is iffy because of the shape. Film will be very hard to stretch over the curves. VHT paint leaves a very matte finish unless you use clearcoat like someone else said. But you'll still have to wetsand the clear to get a professional look. Maybe have a pro spray them. That's what I do on all my cars after having tried film and seeing other cars with VHT. Plus VHT can get very dark.

Whatever you do, do not Plastidip your lights!

is it possible to have a really good guy tint the tails really well? i know the curves can screw them up but, is it possible to come out without any errors?

With film? I haven't seen it done on something like an FX. If they stretch it enough to go over the corners, the tint will be uneven. If they cut it to go over the corners, there will be seams. A lot of window tint guys don't do taillights and headlights, it's actually very different. The film is different. If you were going to pay someone to do it, just pay a body shop to spray them.

Spray them. You'll get the best results.
I wouldnt use a can
3rd brake light & bottom reflectors can be film

If you used film the stretch pattern would most likely only be on the sides. wonder if it would be possible to make the pattern look cool by pre stretching it in a pattern?

Overall if you want the dark look I think painting the insides would be better than tinting the outside. I think there are DIY for it on here. That way you still retain the brightness of the lights as well.

The problem with stretching the film isn't the pattern, it's that the tint will be uneven where it stretches. When the film stretches, it will be less dark. And you can't really paint the insides of the taillights, they don't bake open like the headlights, you have to cut them.

I've completely blacked out my tails and the light output was not affected at all..it actually looked better with the bright red led's shining through the black tails..

Plastidip can really also tint headlights or taillights, my friend did it on his tsx and came out great. Try that for yourself just to see.
