Hey there ladies and gents,

I have future plans of upgrading my 2008 fx 35 AWD brakes. They need replacing all around so why not. Because there is so many people who have done it so many ways, can someone provide a concrete answer on the swap

From what I know, brake shields must be trimmed
20mm spacers are needed.
You need new banjo bolts
New brake lines (fx50?)

Where I become lost is the process and details
Do I need front and rear rotors for an FX50s? Or another type/size

I can do this without the adapter, from another members story?

Will I still have full functionality of my ebrake?

Is there anything I am missing guys?

Cheers and thanks for the input

All your answers can be found in this long thread. requires come a bit of reading and writing down notes. Towards the end, they summarize a list of parts needed.

G37 / FX50 Akebono Brake Retrofit

Hi guys,

Can the akebono calipers be installed on the OEM rotors or do they need to be larger?
Will I need rotors from the V8 or are they the same for all models of the qx70?

Thanks in advance.

Forward to the last 5 pages of the link above for confirmation. You would need FX50 rotors for the rear (the fx rear parking brake assembly won't fit the rear g37s rotor) and you'll need Turbocad's bolt kit. The kit is no longer available. I think you'd also need the rear knuckles from an fx50. You can do the front with g37s or fx50 rotors and the akebono calipers. I believe you'll need new banjo bolts for the front. Can someone else chime in?

I only did my front brakes, wasn't worth the hassle to me to do the rears because of the extra parts needed.
For the fronts, you can use G37S rotors or FX50S rotors. You cannot use the stock rotors, the bigger rotors are 50% of the "Big Brake" kit.
Yes, you will need new banjo bolts on the front. I recommend adding stainless brake lines to the front too, if it's in your budget.

I just posted my conversation video if anyone wants to check it out.
Man, you got me confused there for a minute. Then I realized your car is 2nd gen FX and this thread relates to 1st gen BBK swap.
