So i searched and found a list of differences for the FX50 here.

Being said, what year FX35 (or 37) would you recommend to buy and why? FX50 is out of budget, and I wasn't sure if one year 2nd GEN FX's had more problems than another. I'm looking at 2010s but 2009s are appealing for the paddle shifters (however, they can be installed later of course) :smile (2):

I like the 2011+ just because of the high resolution on the NAV screen. 2012 gets you the blue screen between the speedo and tach, as well.

2009 is best. You get the paddle shifters aluminum pedals and diamond quilted leather standard.

On the 2011 and above they switched to cheaper leather on the steering wheel and make you pay extra to get the diamond quilted leather.

Agreed - if you care about the nice diamond stitched seats, perforated leather on the steering wheel sides and paddle shifters, the 2009 has it all.

However I've been looking at trading up to a '12 or '13 FX with Deluxe Touring to at least get the seats plus you get the newer navigation and instrument coloring.

I'm investigating adding the paddle shifters with OEM parts and the adapter bracket recently introduce here.

For the steering wheel you can get an upholsterer to upgrade the leather or grab something from the Nissan parts bin for the wheel. Check out the 370Z or Nismo Juke wheel:

You can probably swap the airbag, cover, and instruments from the FX onto the alcantara Juke wheel.

Thanks guys. I'm looking at 2009s since I really want the quilted seats, but wasn't sure being the first year of the 2nd gen if it had more problems than the later years.

Also on a side note, does the 2nd gen FX's have rev matching when using the manual mode like how the later 1st gens did?

Are selling your Lexus already?

Unfortunately yes, most likely if I can find the right FX. Its been a little over the year with the Lexus, and although its small size makes it easy to drive/park and saves on gas, I've also gone through so many tires from potholes (on OEM wheels) and other annoying issues that I'm strongly considering getting a crossover again.

What years did the all around camera and the a/c seats start to come in? Do the a/c seats come with the quilted?

Climate controlled seats are packaged with the quilter leather in the Deluxe Touring. At least on 2011+.

2012+ you get the freshened front bumper cover, too.

Have you considered a Mazda CX-5? They are very impressive if you can get over the 185hp. Handles like a Miata on stilts. New, loaded for $30,000. They aren't slow, but it's still a 4-cylinder.

Oh yeah if you want an idea of what comes with what on the 2009 model, here is my original window sticker off my FX. Every option maxed out:

Pman it will be awesome to see you in a fx again no matter what year you get

Thanks guys, IS is super helpful as always. I started parting out the IS today, so that next weekend I can bring it to the dealer to get a trade in value. If all works well, then going to pull the trigger on a 2nd gen.

TBH, when I told some others about switching back to a crossover, everyone was asking if I looked at the x3, q5, etc, etc, etc... Honestly I took a quick peek online to see the going prices but my mind is pretty much set on the FX otherwise. Hoping/can't wait to get back into one. Its been too long (not counting a short ride in Soonster's a month ago )

And now for another question, ha. I wish i could have thought of them all and asked at once but they keep coming spontaneously. For those who have driven a stock 1st and 2nd gen FX, does the 2nd gen feel more comfortable? The stock ride in my 1st gen was a firm and got harsh at times, but nothing as harsh as a lowered sedan. Just wondering how the 2nd gen rides. Once again, thanks in advance!

I've driven a 1st gen when I was first looking for an FX. The 2nd gen does ride smoother and has better road isolation. Another thing to point out that I remember that was told to me at the opening night event that they had back when the 2nd gen first came out was that the 2nd gen chassis was 20% more stiff in terms of structural integrity. The reps from Infiniti said the 2nd gen had double the amount of welds in the frame which showed better ride quality and better handling. The 2nd gen also uses a double wishbone suspension with shock absorbers at all 4 corners where as the 1st gen uses front macpherson struts.

+1

I found the 2nd Gen smoother with a quieter interior. Even with the 20-inch wheels.
