Best Snow Cables for FX's

I've never seen any difference with snow mode. I keep forgetting to try it out when there is no snow on the ground, but if i have snow mode on and I slam on the gas even half way, I'm flying.

19mph and 12mph difference is so little...i wonder why they didn't increase it to more. Wouldn't it be better traction to always have AWD if you have it activated in the snow and ice conditions? I never understood the engineers in this area.

I noticed a definite difference in snow mode while driving my FX50 and also with my 09FX35 but as they say it reverts back to the attesa AWD system once you pass 20 kph or 12 mph. The attesa system works so well I never bother to engage snow mode.

same. works so well i was confident going 120 on the icy snowy un plowed highways last night lol.
Sweet, and for our American friends, I believe Andrew means 120 kph not mph.

I took the 50 out the, other day to try it in the fresh snow and she was still wearing the 21's with the all season rubber on it and I was surprised how well they worked (although I know my Blizzaks will work much better)

What is the actual difference in snow mode? Is there more to it than starting in a different gear? I thought it was just to prevent the quick start? There an alternative AWD?

All FX's start off the line in AWD mode, then at a certain speed (from what I remember 19mph), they transfer to RWD.

What snow mode does, is holds the system in AWD for a longer period of time (until a higher speed) I dont believe it has every been confirmed on the 1st gens what this speed is. The other thing that snow mode does is deafens the throttle reponse to like half, so it smooths out the drivers inputs a lot more. For example if you floor it off the line, the car will open the throttle a lot more slowly for you, this helps in gaining the best traction off the line.

As we all know the coefficient of static friction is greater than that of kinetic friction, what this means is that the best way to keep a car going is to not allow the wheels to start sliding, and that is the ultimate goal of the change in throttle response.
