currently on my 3rd tank of gas in my nused 2004 fx35, just want to know what are some mods that I can get the best MPG.. currently i've been averaging 340-360... mostly freeway driving.

my car has 66k on it now and looking to see what maintance or mods that i can do to improve the mpg.

TIA

The feather foot mod.
NOT to be confused with the lead foot mod.

Stillen CAI kit improved my mpg, from 15 to 17(according to my computer).

Weight saving. Remove the spare, the seats, and all door panels.
In all seriousness, keep your tires well inflated, and be gentle on the throttle. 350 miles per tank is pretty good.

Intake/exhaust stuff will help, anything that makes the engine more efficient. But, none of it is going to ever be very cost effective. Say you pick up 1mpg w/ an intake (being generous, I only saw .2 mpg gain w/ intake and plenum spacer). The intake is $200 and the payback is going to be a year or so to breakeven. That's about the cheapest part. Plenum spacer is $200, exhaust is $1K, tune is $100 an hour where I live. Would your car get better mileage after all of this...of course. Is it worth it from a monetary standpoint? Not a chance. Mod your car because you want to mod your car, not because you want to improve mileage. The FX is terrible on gas, it always will be, if you wanted fuel efficiency, you should not have bought this car.

Sort of like people who buy hybrids because they want to save on gas. They don't take into account the huge increase in cost and that the breakeven is 5-7 years.

i wouldn't say the fx is terrible on gas.. go look at an x5, range rover etc.. i'm impressed with the gas mileage it gets for power and weight of the vehicle

No, the FX is right there with peers in terms of mileage. My only point was, if the OP was so concerned with mileage, the FX is not a good choice. Just like an X5, Range, or Q7 would be terrible choices if mileage was a concern.

There are much cheaper options for the parts listed
make your own intake -$75
blox spacer -75
350z exhaust with extended tips 300

I get about 20-22 mpg. Mix of city and highway

To be fair, you have a red so you probably will get better gas mileage than someone with awd. But I like the idea of making your iw n I take and installing the 350z exhaust.
