Best Brake pads

http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm

try bedding your brakes, if it's glaze that causing the squeal that will fix it.

I get a squeal from my big brake kit every 8-12 months, then I re bed (not the full bedding, just enough to burn off the glaze), no more squeal, 100% silent (except for the slots).

Great link Ed, but why do the brakes squeal only when going in reverse and only for the first few seconds? I never get it to squeal going forward.

Try reversing into your typical parking spot, so you pull forward instead of reversing. I be the squeal will still be there.

If so, it's just common as it's a cold rotor/cold pad contact, as the rear rotors/pads are always in contact. After you get enough speed/warm it up, it goes away.

Why is it that Nissan vehicles have this behavior? My neighbor accross the street has a Nissan and same thing, squeels. We both squeel coming out. Every other car on the block does not. :confused.:

I've enjoyed Infiniti's OEM brakes. Much better stopping power than cheap brakes on my old vehicle.

Now that all my brakes are high quality, they're all squealing. I bought CRC Disc Brake Quiet, but it needs to go on the back of the brakepads. Going to buy CRC De-Squeek or something that can spray on the rotors. I hate the idea of it, but the noise is driving me nuts.

I heard from someone else with a Nissan, complaining of the brake squeal.

I bought the spray that goes on the rotors. It's an abrasive, apparently not a lubricant. Supposedly polishes the surface. It stopped the squealing. Just make sure the brake dust is cleaned off first, since it didn't work on one car that hadn't been cleaned.

did you feel any decrease in stopping power afterwords.

I noticed the brakes aren't as initially touchy, but I'm not sure about stopping distance. Haven't noticed a change.

I tried it on another car, and it started squeaking fairly soon. Mine is still not squeeking. I'd trade three of the four brakes to keep them quiet.

The spray is also an abrasive, so it may wear away brake pads a little on the first ride.

That's all the disadvantages I can think of.
