Ok so im going to replace my rotors and purchase some stoptech drilled rotors. Im confused about what would be the best brake pads for the FX. Some people in the forum say to stay away from hawks and others to stay away from akebono. I need some ideas on what would be the pads to go with the rotors. Also i will be getting SS brake lines.

i have used EBC i like them but i have also used HAWK and personally i prefer HAWK for some reason i get a better stopping power with it.

Personal experience with Hawk HPS, STAY AWAY!!

Horrible cold stopping power. Horrible in cold conditions all together, they absolutely need to be warm in order to provide "bite". So when you first get in the car on a cold morning..make sure you give yourself some extra stopping room coming to that first stop sign or light.

Also had problems when they were just broken in. I was coming down the mountain and found myself with absoultely no brakes coming upto a a right hand turn going 75mph. Scared the crap out of me....took them off and bought stock pads...never have had ANY problems with stock pads. Not saying they are even close to the best option...but they have been proven to be damn good.

Do Akebono brake pads work with slotted/drilled rotors? i just purchased the rotors but need a set ofgood pads that will work with them. I was thinking about going with EBC greenstuff bc i heard Hawk suck. I also thinking of Akebono.

ive been running on hawk hps almost 7 months on stock rotors, and its reallly loud and noisy when braking, everyday there is a squeak. Plus its wearing down my rotors.. Cold mornings, you need to brake really well till it gets warm, nothing like a 09+ g37 brakes

I was thinking switching stock brake to Hawk HPS since it stops perfectly fine on my Nissan Maxima. Were you running stock rotor or some other aftermarket brand?

On my Maxima, I use Power slot Cyro + Hawk HPS.

stock rotors, i still have them on, and love the stopping power!

I just switched to R1 Concepts e-line drilled rotors w/ Hawks HPS and the combo works great...much better bite than stock and no issues on first starting up...they are now broken in and I can stop on a dime

I think if u are using stock rotors than stock pads are best...if u are going drilled/slotted...hawks are pretty damn good

Is it possible it depends on what rotors u are using?? I've read that they ARE terrible on stock rotors...

Does anyone have the answer for the squeaking stock brakes? I have about 35k miles on my car. Took it to the dealer and did the ITB05-062 from the Infiniti Service Bulletin and now the noise is back once again. Please don't tell me I have to replace my brakes every year or 6 months.

Might as well stop searching. the ONLY cure for the squeal is a BBK. It's part of FX life

The squeal has nothing to do w/ functionality. Stop letting your dealer steal your money for new brakes. The TSB is bullshit

try bedding your brakes, if it's glaze that causing the squeal that will fix it.

I get a squeal from my big brake kit every 8-12 months, then I re bed (not the full bedding, just enough to burn off the glaze), no more squeal, 100% silent (except for the slots).

So on Sat. I went and got my oil change and tire rotation and I told the dealer that the brakes were squeaking. They did everything and said they cleaned the brakes. Yesterday, I noticed there are black spots on my front wheels. WTF? It looks like spray paint. How do I remove this? I went to Autozone today and bought some Mother's polish and it still won't come off. Anyone have ideas? Gasoline? Pretty pissed.

there is a clear coat on the wheels, gasoline or something that caustic -- I highly recommend you not doing that.

Bring it back and have them deal with it.
