BC Coilovers Info & Unboxing (03-08 FX35/FX45)

yes sir. i have over 120 sets of coilovers on order, problem is they are in high demand and we sell them out before they get to the usa :(. I am putting in extra orders for FX coilovers so that way its same day shipping as bc wasn't expecting as many sales as we are making. any questions let me know, im around 7 days per week. (this weekend i will be on the other coast for a car show etc, but you can still get in touch with me)

Can you post some information on the differences between the stock shocks/struts vs the coil over shocks? Just looking for any facts, I know the stock struts and shocks are as basic as they go but don't know any technical differences between these and BC coil over shocks. Seeing how cheap stock KYB struts/shocks are, they can't be that good=)

Anything would be helpful, thanks.

30 way adjustable dampers
engineered for eachother, not just pieced together
we can do custom spring rates free of charge (may take more time for valving)
virtual lifetime warranty!
rubber inserts in pillowball mounts for quieter daily drive
larger damper then kyb/other coilovers for smoother ride/better performance
support in the USA
fixed cup/locking collar design with new tophats.

those are the key differences rattled off the top of my head.

i have 10 sets of fx coilovers in stock next week as well just confirmed from owner of bc :)

hmmm maybe we should split this thread from info and unboxing to another thread regarding sales and tracking.

Anywho, I set my dampening settings to 18 from hard on the front and 20 from hard on the rear and it doesn't feel like an fx anymore, the ride is very smooth... It is a great ride, no more hard thump when hitting little dips and bumps in the road. Wife loves it. For long trips I could imagine setting it even softer for a superb ride.

^ WEALTH of knowledge! Thanks for sharing Jeff. Gives me a starting point, base comfort settings were my biggest concern for the install. I like my performance shop but the less trips I have to make in to see them the better.....

Mine arrived yesterday (I missed them at my house on Monday) and I drove them to the shop and had them installed last night. Props to the shop for getting it all done.

Thanks to Josh for the customer service!

Looks slick Brad, and nice pics BTW. I am scheduled for delivery tomorrow, hopefully my install will go down next week.....

no sir no one has stepped forward, i know its not a huge community but i have faith they will :)

special thank you to everyone on these, i have a few sets left in stock now and bought out the rest of their inventory. jumbo looking forward to seeing more of your fx, the build looks nice!

Do you know what the out-of-the-box drop height for front and rear and also the suspension setting?

I'm just wondering for those that don't want to mess with the height adjustment and only want the coil overs for the better ride/shocks.

E.g. 1.4" front, 1.3" rear drop? Is this information Josh/Anyone has?

Also, what is the spring rate front and rear? I know you can do custom, but what is the default?

Thanks!

I got these BC coilovers installed yesterday. Driving home from the shop they rode soft, bouncy. When getting home I adjusted the dampening settings to all the way hard which was like 10 clicks from were it was at. I wanted to start hard and go from there since I want a more sporty feel. At clicking to all the way hard, it rides nice and comfortable but not as stiff as I would like.

Question:
You guys that have these BC's, should setting the dampening to all the way hard feel stiffer than say Eibach spring's? Im thinking the shop messed with the spring rate. I have no room for adjusting from were im at except softer.

This?-5MM PRELOAD
7. TAKE YOUR SPANNER WRENCH AND RAISE (A)(WHICH IS NOW PUTTING TENSION ON THE SPRING) UP 5MM (TOP OF (B) TO THE BOTTOM OF (A)). THIS IS KNOWN AS A 5MM PRELOAD (WHICH IS WHAT BC RECOMMENDS FROM THE FACTORY).
8. AFTER YOU GET YOUR 5MM PRELOAD RAISE LOCK RING (B) BACK TO (A) AND TIGHTEN THE TWO TOGETHER.

After the install the shop called me over to look at the height. It looked very similar to the height I was at with the H&R's maybe a tad bit higher but not sure if this was right out of the box. Im gonna be calling the shop today about the spring rate issue so Ill ask them if the first height setting was out of the box.

No, I'm asking for the actual spring rate. That is just the height of adjustment for the pre-load, i.e. compressing the spring.

Spring rates are for example, X N/mm or Y lbs/inch denoted.

we can always do custom stiffer spring rates free of charge.

spring rates are located on your springs its the last 3 #'s on the spring # and you can see pretty easy. no one has purchased anything but factory rates.

Had my BC's installed yesterday as well. Ride is comfortable but still feels planted (I came from H&R's so I am probably a bit more used to a moderate ride) My initial read is that I really like the ride. I started with my dampener settings where FXr8 is at now, 18 from hard on the front and 20 from hard on the rear. I am now working backwards on the dampener settings to see if I want to go stiffer.

The look is pretty impressive, really like the drop. Rears are a bit close on my ride however and I am having an issue with the interior wheel well edges chewing up my side walls (aggressive 10.5" GT-R wheel offset pushes some of the rubber outside the well). Going in for a roll this morning, once the rub factor is removed I am looking forward to pushing the performance side of the BC's.

Thread sorted out a bit, sales here -> ///9986

For BC info and other related stuff you are in the right thread.

just chatted with BC. right now not any ER series available....BUT if there is enough interest i can have them developed :) they are generally about $1850 more track oriented and about the highest performance you can get out of a streetable coilover. I didnt realize that you guys would be driving so hard!
