Battery Died On Me Twice

Today when leaving from class my battery died on me in the parking lot. I was on break and was taking a nap in the car and I wake up to start the car and it wouldn't start at all. I had to called Infiniti Roadside Assistance to get it jump started and it fired right up.

This is the second time this week the battery has died on me. I didn't have no radio, lights, or other electronics on. I notice sometimes the car is hard to crank on cold starts, but it's VERY rare.

By the way this is the second time I've replaced the battery within a 2 year period. I keep buying the Infiniti ba
teries from the dealer. Any suggestions? I have a feeling its going to happen again next week when i have class.


Does warranty cover the battery? Or cover it partially? I thought it had an 84th warranty or something...hmmm
 
I have a 2005 and Im on my 3rd battery already. I have no idea what it is, but Im starting to lean towards my underdriven crank pulley. The battery isnt covered, but they prorate it. I finally paid for a Die Hard from sears
 
They reimburse a percentage based upon how long it lasted, if it doesn't last as long as it should.
 
Think I will go with an Optima Yellow Top battery next time I need one.

im on my 3rd battery as well. 2nd battery bought from costco, that went bad costco took it for free and exchanged it after a year
 
Yeah I just got my battery changed today, it was bought 2009/2010, so they gave me 50% off the battery.
I'm thinking about just getting an aftermarket battery, though.

...and they charged me for recycling my battery O_o.. Autozone does that for free.
 
Aaron, you could also have something pulling too much juice and so the BCM never goes to sleep and if it never goes to sleep, your battery will be dead after a few hours and the more it happens the faster the battery dies. Back like a year ago I did lots of testing measuring the amps drawn. BCM usually kicks in within a few seconds but noticed that if something was pulling on the battery even somewhat small, the BCM relay would never kick in and a ton of amps would be consistently drawn. In my case, it was a stereo sub capacitor that went bad and was pulling amps even after the car was turned off.
 
My OEM battery had a 84 month warranty sticker on it. I thought the battery was going bad because after leaving the doors and rear hatch open for more than an hour it would hardly start. I called the dealer and they said with my 84 month pro rated warranty a $220 new OE battery would only cost $110. All the compatible batterys that I found the lowest price was $150+ so the OE replacement was still the best deal. The original battery is still installed and working fine, I determined that leaving the doors and rear hatch open for so long was the cause of the "no crank" problem so I am not going to do that anymore. Your "second" new OEM battery should have a very small pro rate cost so I would just take it to the dealer and get a new OE replacement.
 
When you leave the doors and hatch open, shouldn't the lights automatically shut off after a while? I leave the doors open for long periods of time and never had an issue. The dome/door lights would just turn off.

I've only gone through one battery on my '07 earlier this year. But it went from working fine to so gone it wouldn't even take a charge in about 2 days. Went on a two week vacation, came back and it was too weak to start the car. Jumped it and it was fine for 2 days, started the car just fine. Then my wife drives it to work and when she came out in the afternoon, it wouldn't even crank. It just clicked. Tried jump starting it and it wouldn't even take a charge. Had to swap batteries in a parking deck.
 
I had battery problems with both my 03 & the 07. In 4 yrs owning the 03 I went through 3 batteries, the 07 which I had for 2 yrs went through 2 batteries. It was happening often enough that we bought a battery charger and even it couldnt get it to turn over. The dealership was never able to determine anything was wrong or drawing power. It didnt help that replacing those batteries was a total pain in the ass!!
 
If your going to get a new battery, def go with optima

I was told that 30 minutes everything would shut off. I am going to test that now that the car is home in the garage near a battery charger. I think that as my battery is almost 4 years old it just couldnt take the current draw for 30 minutes like it did when it was new.

not true. hook up a multimeter to your battery and you can see how many amps are drawn and all. If all is shutoff, you can even hear a relay click if you listen carefully by the engine bay and the amps go down to something like 0.03 or 0.04. My wife's care without anything drops to basically 0, but our cars draw a little.....

my understanding is if there is somewhat of a little draw on the car like a bulb or something else, then the BCM never shuts down and I measured that it then draws at like 0.50 higher/lower but around that much, which after several hours will put a battery to be dead, especially an older one.
