My fx has had several electrical problems lately. Battery died so I charged it. Now it will turn over but won't start. My friend has a scanner and it showed that my car doesn't recognize my key. What is the next step?

It is the intelligent key if that helps

I just changed my battery and it worked fine. Try taking the physical key out and putting it in the slot and turning the engine over.

Check the ikey fuse behind in the battery compartment. Maybe behind the battery can't remember. I blew this fuse once and car won't start or recognize ikey.

David I had a same issue with my FX last year. I went overseas, and while there my family started having charging issues, the car would die if sat for more than a day without being driven. I though they must have been doing something wrong. Anyways 2 months later I returned and it got to the point that even I couldn't get it started without charging the battery. The system check didn't find nothing wrong, the battery when charged and car driven was fine, alternator too, all fuses fine. Finally one day I had to replace a bulb, I noticed one of the cables was ripped, not sure how. I fixed the broken headlight cable, put new lightbulb in and for some reason the problem went away.
I talked with a friend and he said that some cars need a close circuit to run system check after you turn the car off. If there is a breach or broken "line" the system won't be able to do a full "circle" and is going back and forth until it runs itself down, since it can't properly shut down.
So I would just check for any loose cables.
Other things that might be causing the drainage, since I spent a month looking for it could be: faulty stereo/nab unit. In some cases it stays on even when the screen is off. Resolution is to have it replaced.
BCM module may be dying, it's behind the glove compartment. If so you will have to have the dealer check it, replacement requires reprogram at the dealership. Hope this helps.

BCM module??

When i replaced my headliner I did not plug up some of the dome lights. They are just unplugged-could that cause a problem? It did not start at the same time (or it could have I usually drive my car daily)

BCM - body control module, sort of a system brain, recognizes your intelligent key amongst other things. Hmmm not sure if the dome lights could do that, if they are just unplugged but for a heck of it I'd plug them in and see if it makes a difference. Just to cover all odds. If this is not it, then have a dealership scan your system for any spikes, unless you have or know someone with a test tool.

easier said than done. i will have to drop the headliner then not sure if i would have room to put them in above the liner i dont have holes for them anymore :(

No problem David, glad it worked out for you. Now do I get a +Thanks...lol.

Also, your other problem can be associated with the radio. There is a known problem with the G35's radio killing the battery after shutting off. This isn't soo common an issue with the FX, but it does happen.

^^
Infiniti G35 Battery Drain - Your battery may go dead after sitting over night or within 1-2 days. Dealership says possible Body Control Module? Try pulling the "radio" fuse under the hood near the car battery to test over night. If battery is fine, then it's a stereo problem.
