Bad smell when heat is on only! Help

I have a 05 fx35 and i seem to get a burning smell some days bad some days not so much when the heat is on. I dont have the problem when i ac is on unless my mind is playing tricks on me lol. I have searched about it before but most common problems seem to be cabin filter and battery. I just changed my cabin filter two days ago thinking it would solve it but it didnt. And i have an optima gel battery. The burning smell seems to be a burning of plastic. Any ideas where to start ? Thanks

I wish i could figure it out. Not a good thing when i occasionally have people in the car and i have to put the heat on :bad:

Does it happen without the heat or AC on?

Nope i only seem to smell it when the heat is on

Hmm, sounds like you may have to remove the center console to get to the heater core area under the dash and see if there anything might be melting or too close to it that got heat up when the heat is running.

Yea im probably going to dig deeper into the problem this weekend when i have some time. not really sure what im looking for but hopefully find a solution

So guys this smell might be there even when the heat is off. Idk if its my mind playing tricks on my but i think i smell it when the car is just running with no heat on.

Hmm, I would suggest to invite someone to ride in your car and let them tell you.
