Bad problem

Hey,
A few months ago i was driving back home. And as i got into the parking lot of my apartment building, all of a sudden the steering wheel locked up. All the lights on the speedometer dashboard lit up and the car slowly slowed down to a stop and it turned out the car just turned off. I didnt think it was a big deal, i thought i might;ve hit the ignition button with my knee accidentally. I was wrong!

Last night i was driving in the city and the same thing happened again. Luckily i passed a yellow light so the cars behind me had to stop. The car just turned off and i stopped in the MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. i got so pissed. Let it stop completely, turned the car back on, no problems.

Man now im scared this could happen on a highway... So far ive driven 10K miles and this has happened twice. It shouldn't even happen once.

Has any1 else expeirenced anything like this before? Man i wish i had an indiniti dealership here. I guess i gotta take it on a weekend.

A few members had a problem similar to this. Im hoping its just your throttle body needing cleaning or your air filter is very dirty and needs cleaning or replacing. Rubare had this same issue, once we cleaned up this throttle body, change his air filter, did a ecu reset he was good to go. Hope this helps, but Im sure other member will chime in as well.

It's an '09 though. Since it hasn't been through the arab desert, I doubt it's already that dirty. Just take it to the dealership.

Yeh sorry didnt i mention its an 09... But i did post it in the 09 section :P

Hmm, ill give them a call. Will they really take it back O_o

I dout they will take it back.....they will try to correct the problem.
I had a Dodge Durango a few years back...and the idle was really rough.
I took it back a few times and they attempted to correct it -
in the end they gave me every penny back. but this was over a 12 month period.

this does sounds like a quality issue, you have a brand new 09 the dealership should do everything in their power to correct the problem and if still not solve should give you back your money.

keep us updated. is this brand new or a demo car?

Brand new... not really new. I bought it in september (10k miles on it so far.) But yeh, bought it new. what do u mean by demo car?

In Maryland there's a thing called the "Lemon Law" in which a dealer has a chance to do a repair for the same concern three times and if not repaired you go into arbitration, and than some sort of action is taken towards another vehicle. A demo is a vehicle driven or used at the dealership and would have some miles on it.

actually... come to think of it i did get a demo car... is this bad? I bought the car from maryland.. nationwide dealership. And the guy drove the car to here (State College) And when i got it, it had like 600 miles on it. He didnt say anything, and the trip to here is like 200. I didnt think much of it. but i did pay full price. Did i get riped off?

The shitty thing is, on top of that, he didnt even fill the tank back. I got with half a tank... lol.

Ohhhhh hell no. 600 miles on Delivery of a new car??? and you paid full price?
Did you agree to these terms???

damn, that sucks. Yeah, I would not have paid full price for a so-called "New Car" if it had 600 miles on it. But if you agreed to the terms and signed the contract, don't know what to say. I would take it to the dealer and have them look at it.

Well.. I didnt really agree. I just wanted a car lol. I paid 1k under MSRP (but i read that this is normal, nothing special.) It had 400 on it, then i asked him to drive it here so it could come faster. And that added 200 miles.

Personally I still think 400 miles is way too many miles for a brand new car. When I have bought new cars, the most that I have ever got was a car with 20 some miles on it.

But thats the past. I didnt really care, i couldnt say no after i drove it :P

About the issue though, how will they check it? I mean like it happens once every 3-4 months. What if they say theres nothing wrong and it happens again. how am i able to prove it.

If something caused it to shut off/stall then it should be logged when they do a diagnostic test and they would see a code for it.
