Backup Camera Not Working

So I bought an 06 FX35 a few days ago and knew the only thing that wasn't working on it was the backup camera but I would like to get it working. Most people seem to complain that they get a black screen but i have something different happening.

Anyone know what the issue is or seen this before?

I think some guys used a Nissan camera which is cheaper, but I'm not sure. When did you buy your FX, any 30/60/90 days warranty from the dealer?

All dealers are bind by a 30 day warranty at least here but it was agreed that i was buying the vehicle without the backup camera being fixed for the price I was paying and I was okay with that. Figured I can fix it myself but I need to know what camera will work and where to grab one without going to an infiniti dealer and paying a ton for it.

Wonder if it is the control unit or the camera that has gone?
 
Grab a test light and a buddy. Use the test light to check for power the control unit in the (4 wire?) connector to the camera. Have buddy hold brake and put car in reverse.

My camera went out and I had the same text at the bottom of my screen but a totally black picture. I don't think it would say that if the camera control was bad.


Anyone know of a good place to get a cheap replacement camera? I'm not about to pay $330 for something that shouldn't really cost but 40 bucks. Such a rip off on this part.

So I messed around with my camera some and it's all of a sudden working again. I'm guessing at this point it was a loose wire. All is well for now. It has gone in and out before. Hopefully it keeps working.
