My baby is starting to outgrow his car rear-facing baby seat.
I removed it after 11 months of being there, and the seat is noticebly pushed in. This is expected, as I kneeled on the car seat base and pulled as tight as I could with the LATCH system.
Therefore, my car seat base did not move 1 inch in any direction.
Now, my convertible toddler seat has a less of a "base" and is less flat and pushes more into the car seat.
Putting all my weight on the seat and pulling both LATCH belts, the car seat does not move AT ALL. Especially since I have the top anchor in too.
That being said, you can see and feel the cushion being pressed in pretty deep and is noticeable. I do have a seat protector, but wondering if anyone else experienced this.
I really could care less as my baby's safety is #1, but was shocked at how "soft" these rear seats where when pressure was applied. In my BMW it's not like this at all.
Let me mention the rear seats are firm when you sit regularly, but throw in the toddler seat, it starts sinking in (granted I also put force to ensure zero movement of the seat).
Anyway, I highly recommend the Britax ADVOCATE 70 CS. I so wanted to buy the Recaro, ever since I found out my wife was pregnant. But after reading reviews, it was hands down Britax. They even have added size protection for passengers OTHER than the baby in the seat.
Anyway, just looking to see if anyone else experienced this and also a FYI for those getting toddler/convertible seats.
The Britax fits perfectly in the FX45 rear seat btw, thanks to the FX's adjustable recline and the Britax's adjustable recline.
