Does anyone with RCA Jacks in the center console?...My 2011 FX does not have the RCA jacks. My friends 2010 has them dosnt have rear entertainment.

^whoa!
i got the 2011 too and all i could see is the usb and the 12v socket.
prolly need a flashlight to check it thoroughly

^the premium only

If car made in 2010 on VIN plate, but 2011 model they still left RCA inputs with premium package.

In 2011 made cars with power gate,no RCA

Tradeoff. RCA for powergate

But good news are,if you really need them. You can add them.

That make sence because I have the power liftgate. I have the premium and touring packages. Anyone know how I can add them?

But if I am not wrong for FX you might need whole new wiring for the RCA. I might be wrong. So does it worth it? - I don't think so.

I guess I am the only one who cares about RCA jacks..lol There has to be an Infiniti wiring diagram on how to retro fit this.

i have the wire diagram but like sobi says u need a whole new wiring and also the wiring for the fx is like a super high advance technical flying space station so many colorful wire that u screw up if u cut the wrong one

Hey guys, I know this is an old thread but i'd like to bump it.

My new 2011.5 fx35 also does not have the av jacks in the center console, a trade off of having a power rear liftgate :-(

When I opened up the back of my AV unit to do a couple mods, there were two (2) unused plugs, one right next to the plug where the usb from the center console plugs into and another one (I can't remember where now but there is another one). I'm sure one of these plugs are reserved for the RCA's.

If someone who has opened a 2009-2011.5 fx av unit, please confirm that you only have one unused (or maybe none?) connector port i would greatly appreciate it!

I'm willing to bet that if I can buy the RCA wires from infiniti that I can make this work plug and play, after all the holes are already drilled in my center console for them and the AV unit is the exact same as the 2010 model, right down to the wire color codes.

Anyone know where I can obtain such a part? or a part#? I know that not many people have the 2011.5+ yet, but any help would be great!

Thanks, and long live IS!

Also missing the aux inputs on my 2012. Had them in my G and used to keep kids entertained with YouTube videos. Now I only get the audio and have to give them the phone to watch. The jacks themselves look like an easy install (based on service manual diagram) although not sure if the wire is there behind the console or if a new wire needs to be run from the AV unit. Next time I am at the dealer I will ask for part #s and see if It's worth doing.

I asked a rep from orderinfinitiparts about adding these to my 2011.5 fx35 a month ago and got this reply:

To start, I, along with a few other knowledge bases that I have solicited, don't think there are AV jacks on any of the FX models anymore. This is in part of all of the demands and requests that consumers have sent to Infiniti through the past couple of years. Based on the requests and the progressive 2nd generation auxiliary reply to the requests, the AV plugs are disappearing and Infiniti is implementing the USB port in all of the models.

Yes, I do understand your concern, but I can guarantee that Infiniti never does anything to save on cost. Most of their initiatives are from a deeper rooted logistical engineering design. Infiniti strategic representatives have always said that they can't always explain "WHY" everything is the way it is, but can guarantee that there is a reason.

I have peered into the listings for the audio units for the S51 (2009-current) FX series and there are 22 different AV units and over 75 listings of application. Unfortunately, I don't have any way of ensuring what the empty plugs are for; however, if you provide me with your VIN, I can see what I can find.

The few things that I can reassure you of is: that the vague cut-out line for the AV port doesn't mean that it will work in the car, that may just the manufacture of that plastic "tub" attempting to cut down on their cost. I assume that rather than making a new plastic mold, they just use a filler for a hole that doesn't need to be there any longer. Also, the AV, USB, and any other wire that is in the console will route through the main body harness and not directly to the audio unit. Those plugs in the back of the audio unit may be for something that isn't there; however, these auxiliary components have always been routed through the body harness then to the audio unit.

As for the harness; yes, it will be quite pricey. I have always used a comparison of Infinities to my beloved Chevy Tahoes. I have noted that most manufactures like domestic companies will have the same harnesses throughout the entire car, regardless of the package or components that the car has. This leads to the possibility of adding individual components without having to do much more modifications. On the other hand, most foreign car companies have individual harnesses for each package that a car has. This leads to a difficult situation. For example: if you want to add a rear back-up camera to a car that doesn't have one, you would have to add the entire package that provides the back-up camera. We had some customers that did this years ago with navigation on the G35s; however, packages now have much more technologically driven components on them than before.

I do understand your mission with the video desire. The unfortunate thing of all of this is: that after enough concern effectively changed the port to USB, a company now offers a AV plug that is much more versatile for Apple devices, other MP3, and smart phones that could have circumvented all of the concerns.
