I worked for many years as an automotive interior trim engineer. I bought the Infinity FX35 for my wife. It was 3 years old, used with 23,041 miles on the clock when I bought it and it has been garaged the entire time we've owned it. I really like the car except for this one bubbling dash issue. Having been involved with Nissan directly as an interior trim supplier, I can tell you that there are testing standards that suppliers undergo for delamination of vinyl skin on foam, UV stabilization and cleaning agents. There is no reason that this bubbling issue should be happening, particularly on a $50,000 vehicle. We didn't do Instrument Panels, we did armrests, but the same requirements apply. Either the standard written wasn't stringent enough, or the supplier of the dash didn't follow the process properly. In either case, the consumer shouldn't have to pay for replacement of dash panels for a design/manufacturing screw-up.

They did extend the dash replacement period to 8 years I believe. So they acknowledged there was an issue.

Did your replacement dash bubble as well? I had mine replaced in 2010 and it never bubbled the in the 7 years since. Materials were different on the replacement, not a luxurious but tougher.

Many have complained about the second dash bubbling... More common in hotter climate zones though...

Mine doesn't bubble.. but it melts near the window lol

My fx45 was parked outside for 10+ years without an issue. Used armor-all once on the dash, and the bubbling started within 4 weeks. Coincidence? Perhaps.
