Automatic door lock/unlock

I searched but couldn't find anything conclusive.

Do our cars have auto lock/unlock like I've read for 09+? Even my old 99 Grand Prix back in the day, automatically locked and unlocked when placed in drive or park.

Thanks!

No, they don't. If you're worried about getting carjacked, just lock them. I usually only unlock the driver door so not every door is unlocked at least.

I have seen a thread somewhere saying our cars have auto-relock not autolock, meaning that if you unlock without opening the door it will relock in a preset time, but once you open the door you will have to lock manually, it is a safety feature I guess.

This is correct. Prevents accidental unlocks basically.

What's up guys. I'm in need of help haven't driven the fx for 2 months battery died and all of my doors are locked and can't get into the car now. Putting the key in the slot won't help me out either cause I put a blank piece to cover the key fob. Any other way to get in without doing any damage. Thanks

Try to stick a flat head screw driver or a something like a plastic stick through the grille or just between the first bar of the grille and the hood to push the lock cable enough to unlatch the hood so that you can access the battery. If you can't get the hood to unlatch, may have to sacrifice the grille so that you can reach the hood cable with your hand.

The grille is easy and cheap enough to replace then glass for sure.

Since the blank escutcheon is held on by a thin plastic piece, some have said it is possible to snap it off to get to the keyhole underneath. Out of all the parts you may have to break, that seems like the cheapest.

I was thinking of just snapping of the escutcheon which is the cheapest thing to do but I'm gonna go try tomorrow to see if the flat screw driver will do the trick if not gonna break of the piece and call it a day. Thanks for the help guys.
