I have always been an auto guy. I do park in a garage and my lights come on about two seconds before I turn off the car. Never really gave it much thought, but I guess it would impact the bulb life. Thing is, I have 100,000 miles on my car and I have only replaced one of my headlights one time. The other headlight is original from when I bought the car in 04.
There are sensitivity settings also, as well as delay settings in the menu so you can manipulate when lights comes on and under what conditions. It takes a little bit of playing around to figure out what works for you, but then it's set and forget.
Like I said - I'm an auto-light guy. I pretty much never think about my lights at all.
