Do any of you attend any events with your FX or second (third, fourth, etc) car? Just looking to go out to either and exploring options. Wouldn't mind setting it up as an FX thing either.

I use to hit the track alot in my Honda sold it last year but I'm in the process of building something for the track with a bit more power

Well keep me (us) updated!

I realize the FX is not much a track beast, but CA guys still hit the drag strip occasionally if I remember correctly...

Used to do So Cal drags 15+ years ago. Nowadays, there are less strips and more people. Also, I prefer a 1/4 mile. I'm game for any meet venue though. Drag, track, road, dirt, I don't care which.

Are you tracking the Evo still?

Frank - now that my turbo'd FX is finished, I've been tracking a 1995 Miata. Can't see tearing up a set of street tires on the FX - because they would seriously last one track day. Maybe if I could find some really lightweight 18" wheels and rubber for super, super cheap I'd give the FX a few laps just to see how fast I could push her through the turns. No matter how you slice it - I'm around 4500 lbs. Mr. Mo Mentum is against me. In the Miata, I seriously don't care if I spin it off the track. Can't tell you how many guys have preached it - "if you can't walk away from it, don't track it".

While TECHNICALLY I could walk away from the FX... I don't think my heart could take it...

GTRs weigh 3800 lbs... food for thought

But I see what you're saying. My crazy ass planned on tracking the ol' FX regardless lol... I guess it's a blessing in disguise that I blew the motor, because now I'm having a ton of fun in a much more track-worthy car.

Yeah and like I said... could you walk away from a GTR? That's a $90K toy you are talking about! All that tech is used to control that weight. That's what owners are paying for because I guarantee there isn't more material cost in that GTR than any of Nissan's other production vehicles. Owners are paying for development costs and a name because I think the proper price point for the GTR is about $25K higher than the 370Z.

You couldn't be more right about the track worthy car though. I feel a lot of confidence in the Miata because it is a second car and I can walk away from it. It changes how aggressive I am willing to be on the track. I do miss acceleration though, lol.

Nice driving. Those straights are really long. What's your top?
Gingerman 125mph (that vid)

Autobahn 115mph (I always get super shitty videos at Autobahn, like a curse)

Drag strip 111.96mph

This is all a bare bones basic flash tune on my stock turbo. Next year I will have a slightly bigger turbo and I'd expect those speeds to go up along with my experience and skill.

125mph is a butt ton of speed to be worrying whether or not you still have brakes... but that's part of the adrenaline rush! :tonguey:

I'm sure your brakes were toast at the end of the day. tires too likely

haha. Frank at the end. I just made it through :tup: I wanna go driving now

Brakes were billowing heat... enough to cook my face off when trying to get the valve stem caps off to check tire pressure... oh and those aluminum valve stems and caps get scalding hot too. I cooked my calipers enough to discolor them :embarrassed:

Tires are fine, they hold up well.

To be honest, nothing bores me more than videos like the one I posted. I get super sleepy watching them, so the next one I make I'm gonna make sure it's interesting and not 15 minutes long. 5 minutes should be enough.
