Auto Folding Mirrors Solution?

another update for everyone waiting for this to happen
I got the module at my house but I am on the road working until the end of next month :mad.:
using the service manual that Fire0nic3FX sent to me
Good news I have found wires for open/close for both mirrors, ACC, Battery, ground at the mirror switch
Bad news our FX35 lock/unlock signal is control by a module called Remote Keyless Entry Receiver which receive the signal from our remote then send out signal to the ECU to tell it lock or unlock the FX35. This module only contains 3 wires battery, ground, signal out. When I installed Viper 5902 auto-starter/alarm on my daughter newer TL and know that Viper makes a module to intercept this kind of signal and tell the auto-starter/alarm brain if the door is lock/unlock. The technology in the auto fold mirror module I got still in the old age which needs a lock/unlock signal wires while our FX35 is way more advance with everything control by high speed busing module, so I do not think we can use this module to open/close the mirror when we lock/unlock our FX35. On the module I notice there is a dip switch that will allow the module to open/close the mirror when ACC is on/off which mean we may be able only use it to open the mirror when we start the FX35 and close the mirror when we turn off the FX35
I am thinking another approach would be finding the lock/unlock signal wires before it gets to the lock actuator in the either driver/passenger door. I would have to read the service manual again to find these wires, hopefully the connector or wires is at the drive kick panel. :wink (2):
If anyone want to try this install before the end of next month, just PM me and I can send you all the informations I found so far to give it a try :top:

I think I've found a solution to have the mirrors open and close for us when the car is locked and unlocked. Instead of wiring it to the wires for the central locking, I think it would be best to wire it to the two signals the lock/unlock the rear fuel lid door:

Nope because like AB_FX35 said I can't seem to get the unlock/lock thing to work right. It need to be wired to the fuel lid door signals.

Sorry for the long delay and here is the update
I have decided not to do this mod because I found out I have to cut the wires from the OPEN/CLOSE switch and connect them to the module
so to gain the function of the open/close on remote of lock/unlock door I will lose the ability to choose to open or close the mirrors when I want it to also I have to cut the wires which I do not like to do in any of my expensive cars or SUV:bad: Right now I just use the trick to Close my mirrors before I turn off the SUV and turn it to Open after I turn off the engine before I exit my SUV, it works well for me right now:rotfl:
I sometime have to park in a tight spot at my work place and need to fold my mirrors in before parking so if I do this mod I will not be able to do that anymore.:bad:
I am sure this mod will work for our 2nd gen FX35 if you are willing to cut the wires and lose the function of the close/open switch
If anyone willing to do that I can sell you my module and give you all the information for wires I found so far
Big thank to Fire0nic3FX to send me the manual to find all the wires:good:

:struggle: Why are people so against cutting wires? You can always reconnect and solder them!

I just successfully did this mod last weekend.

I tapped into the door lock / unlock harness to trigger the mirrors, and got the 12v battery power from the fuse box in the driver side footwell. The manual switch functionality is retained by passing the signal from the switch through the module. Overall, not too difficult, but I did have to cut a couple of wires from the mirror switch harness.

I will tried to come back and post more details once I get to 10 posts.

I agree. However I think the way to do this would be to use a trigger module like the PAC TR7 PRO (I'm using one for other things now but not mirrors... yet). We could wire the trigger module to perform an action, say pull a ground wire to the mirror switch for several seconds) when some other event occurs (such as an unlock signal is sent to the door locks.)

The problem with this however is that you really don't want to keep opening and closing the mirrors all that often. We already have the major design flaw of the mirrors loosening after repeated use (and not that often).

So i'm not so sure I would do the mod in any case but I think the above solution would ultimately be the best one atm.

I finish the solution about "auto folding mirrors & auto close door windows"

I can not paste a video link

A lot of members including myself fixed the loose mirror problem, by removing the bottom cover and using Loctite on the screws in the bottom of the mirrors. I had one loose mirror until I did the Loctite fix. I haven't had loose mirrors since and I use the fold in option often, at least 4 times a day.

So anyone have a DIY on using the lock/unlock on the Key Fob to fold/unfold the mirrors?
