auto-dimming mirror settings

Hi, I recently noticed that I have to turn off the auto-dimming feature every time I go into the car (pointless with tinted windows IMO). I think I remember not having to do this every time. Can anyone confirm that when you turn off the auto-dim, it shouldn't come back on the next day? Mine doesn't seem to be holding the memory for the power button, but my garage door buttons are working.

I have 52k miles on the car, and want to get it to the dealer before my warranty runs out.

Can someone please check this on their second gen? It's driving me nuts having to turn it off every day.

I'm not at my car now but if you turn off the feature then turn off your car and turn it back on I suspect it will be back on. I don't recall any settings for changing this permanently. You can try holding down the button to see if that does anything, or best bet would be to ask the dealer if there is a setting. I don't recall a setting in the console either for this, but there may be.

You have to turn it off everytime.

Fyi, the first gen requires you to turn it off each time as well.

On my 2003 FX35 the rear-view mirror will not auto dim the headlight reflections at night. The anti-glare feature is broken. This mirror has an electronic compass and garage opener so it's chock full of electronics. The mirror button activates the green LED and hence the auto dim should function. The front and rear light sensors are clear.

I am comfortable troubleshooting electronics. The replacement from dealer is $750.

Has anyone fixed such a problem?

Any idea of how to get a schematic of the mirror internal electronics?

Other options?
