I love the drone. I like to listen to the exhaust just as much as the radio. FX seems pretty quiet to me. Maybe just lucky or going deaf? Don't think the sound deadening deal is for me. I do want to upgrade the speakers though. Frankly, the system sounds good to me but I'm no connoisseur (yes, did have to look up spelling for that word!). I removed the 20+ lb hatch cover but left the rubber mat. The bass comes though the cabin really well.
Stereo equipment & all that's related is a very weak point for me. Had a home surround system in my house in CA w/polk surround, vega 12", onkyo receiver pumping out some serious power but I just installed it myself & relied on someone else to make the list.
I read somewhere about someone replacing the amp for the woofer enclosure with good results. I like that idea. I don't like the paper coned speakers though. I think the pass side might have a tear as I can hear a faint buzz at high volume. Want to add a larger amp to existing enclosure, remove speakers in rear doors, replace speakers in the front doors & get the speakers off the dash & onto the pillers or somewhere & maybe replace the head unit but that looks like a bitch of a problem.
I'm researching this shit now as I'm going to be doing some interior work myself & have a shop do what I cannot/do not want to do.

Haven't looked into it yet... But it's quite a bit... You can probably research some vids on Youtube... I heard the easiest way to do it is to cut the Dynamat into a bunch of smaller strips and then it's easy to work around all the bends and whatnot... I'd start with finding a good deal and buying a decent amount... Start on a smallish and easy to tear apart area, such as under the trunk, all around where the subwoofer would go... You'll get a much better idea after doing that part exactly how much you'll need...
