Audi RS4 seats in my FX

My previous car was an Audi S4 type B5 (Old model) wich i build the full RS4 interior in while i had the car with the big full leather recaro seats. I like'd them a lot....not to narrow as i'm not that small myself either and still quite firm when they have to.
Of course the FX can be seen as a "touring"car and the seat therefore are smoother then the recaro's i was used to, but it also has to be said the the leather quality of my 03 FX seats is poor and was craking.
Now the 11 months it stood still for my bodykit at the  *@#&^%& in austria with each day driving the car in and out of his company didn't help either and the side of the driverseat was therefore lost and needed replacment.

I sold my Audi to my best friend and he converted in to a full RS4 with fenders and all.....it's an extreme thing and he also bought 2 brand new shell recaro seats on ebay from the latest RS4 leaving the old onces in my shop.......hmmmmmm :glasses:

We had to cut bought seatframes apart and built them into one. At first i thought it was a easy job.....till i found out the with even the lowest position i almost hit the roof with my head so had to do it all over again but it worked out fine and am very happy with it.
There are even 2 seven inch LCD in the headrests wich fit in well with the rest of my winter projekt lcd'ing :.smile:

Here some pics:

The Leather from the RS4 seat isn't also brand new but hey better then cut leather and ok for now. If my wallet allows me i might redo the whole interieur sometime....that was my idea when i started this mod anyway 8)

Here some interieur pics. Not the best shots but you have an idea

And some final pics:

Ohhh and uhhh yeah yeah i know the RS4 logo still in it......he can't do everything right the first time  At least i have some of my old love back :tonguey:

nice swap man, are the recaro's lighter? that's the biggest gripe I have about our seats, I can live with the comfort & support as-is, but the factory seats are just so friggin heavy, I half thought of just gutting them & removing all the power bs & having them either fixed position, or even better yet converting to manual adjust, if I could just get it to slide back & forth & recline manually I bet between the 2 front seats might save ~75lbs... but then I question if it's worth all that just to save the weight too, a seat swap makes more sense, luckily your black interior to begin with...

the rs4 seat is a great seat, another seat I really like for swapping is the older m3 seats, got a pair of them black leather in my caddy, but there full power & heavy too, the seat really changes the whole feel of the car when you drive it, yours must feel great......

Very very nice Ray!

Thanks Doc...!! Always appriciate your opinion having a fine fine FX yourself

Same for this guy as well  Thanks turbo..!! yes they do feel different. I even had to adjust to them for a while, but have them for a couple of weeks now and they sit great indeed.
Know what you mean with the weight......but with this swap honestly not a gain in performance. Thing is that the FX seat isn't that heavy itself...it's the frame and all it's electric motors itself thats soooo heavy as you already said.
With the RS4 seat all thats is mostly within the seat so the seat itself is quit heavy....but it doesn't have such a big frame so that explains where they have to put everything in the seat itself.
I did take out a lot of metal of the old frame and also the frame/seat adjustmant motors of the driver seat as this is already adjustable in the RS4 seat itself, so i hope that compares the weight a bit.
Don't know if you have to surch for less weight there turbo. I think you'll probably be better going for one or multipiece forged wheels or such, cause that is direct on your driveline and most noticable IMO :.smile:

Ray, thx for making this thread. Looks sweet, awesome job. Those are some great seats. How do you rate the overall comfort compared to the oem Infiniti seats? Those extendable thigh supports must be really nice to have!

ps: You didn't weigh the old seats by chance did you?

If your going for comfort i would say keep the OEM onces as the recaro's are quit firm. But that's what i like and also a reason for putting them in.
The thight supports i was used too so when driving aggresivly i kinda mist that in the FX seats so glad they are back

I didn't weigh them, but thing is that the FX seats have most of the modules for adjustment in the seatframe and the recaro's in the seat itself.
So i didn't win any weight honestly, can't also say their heavier now as i also took out some electric motors from the OEM frame as that already was in the recaro seat....but can say they aren't light.......
I think you'll then have to go for aftermarket seat wich often don't have all the options manufactures want in their seats.

That looks sweet!
The one thing i don't like about our seats is that they don't hold me cause i'm too skinny.
When I take fast turns I tend to shift in my seat, so i use my elbows to try and stay put.
