This is such a great looking fascia.. Seems that this might be in production.

Here is an article on it on TOP GEARS' web site. Top Gear even jabs at the GTR in this article. (Highlighted in Red)

It's 30 years since the Audi Quattro rocked the sports-car world, and Audi wants to remind of us that fact. Very badly wants to remind us. Oh yes, look how much trouble Audi has gone to.

This is the Audi Quattro Concept, unveiled at the Paris show. It's a one-off show-car homage to the ur-Quattro, and more specifically to the short-wheelbase Group B Quattro Sport rally car.
But it's not just about retro design fluff. The overall design - especially the nose and headlights - is dead modern and sets sail for a new era for the whole model range.
See more pics of the Quattro Concept
And the engineering is incredibly thorough. They aren't mucking about here, and we've spoken to several people at Audi, all the way to the top, and they're all optimistic that it'll go into production.

So if you were looking for a lightweight, cultish, Nissan GTR rival, you might have found your car.

The concept is loosely based on the RS5's mechanicals. Very very loosely. The engine is replaced. It's the five-cylinder out of the TT RS. But where the TT is transverse engined, the Quattro is longitudinal. A longitudinal five-cylinder 2.5-litre. Just like the original, then. Well yes, but this one has 408bhp.
An RS5 weighs 1,750kg. The new Quattro concept is dramatically less: just 1,300kg. Which is the same as the original. So we've got the same weight and a whole lot more ponies. We like the sound of this. It gets to 62mph in 3.9 seconds.
Compared with the chunky RS5, the pounds were shaved off by cutting 15cm out of the wheelbase, replacing much of the body steel with aluminium, and then going further by using carbon for the bonnet and hatch. And then things like the chassis and brakes could be made lighter, too.
Usually, concept cars take about six months to design. This one took two-and-a-half years. See, they're serious.

Quattro clues are everywhere: the black strip between the tail lamps, the black at the base of the inset rear windscreen (here a lifting spoiler). The shape of the rear pillar. The bonnet air intake, and the turbo vent on one side only. Even the instrument binnacle has echoes. And it carries digital instruments. But not the Pac-Man era graphics of the ur-Quattro.

Most of all, it's the sheer hellacious pugnacity of the thing. It just says ‘throw me down a narrow twisty slippery roadway'. And we ache to do just that.

That's a cool concept. Looks a bit like the what new camaro should have been. Front & rear . . I see some cues

I like it a lot. Reminds me of this body kit:

Actually I would still take the GT-R over this! I think the HUGE front grill is a bit too large.

+10000000000000

all I hear is all these different car maker companies trying to make a car that will beat the Stock GTR and more likely those cars will be way more expencive than the GTR..

So while they make that wonderful car for the same amount of money or less than the GTR. I rather get the GTR.. Cause once they build that car that can beat the Stock GTR all I need is to mod it out and send those guys back to the drawing board again!!

The GTR is worth every cent...

I like the GTR...until the tranny goes pop and you have to pony up the cash for repairs because it isn't covered under warranty lol:laugh:

I still like the GTR, but signing a piece of paper and saids WARRANTY VOID on it for disengaging traction control is a bit much:mad.:

If I had the money at this time my short list would include...
996 911 Turbo (old acquaintance has one with the BL1000hp kit on her OMG)
GTR (with money waiting to upgrade the tranny)
Lotus Espirit V8 (old school cool, the poor mans supercar)
Z06 (friends have em...so quick, even though they are a dime a dozen in TX)
2011 GT500 (friend has an 07, its fantastic and easy to make power)
Of course the latter two would be slightly cheaper used and make good power and even more with some relatively inexpensive upgrades.

On the sedan side...
E55 AMG (AMG FTW)
M5 (Bimmer fan and BMWCCA member here!)
C63 AMG (friend has one, purely satanic exhaust note saids I)

Porchse 911 Turbo S is where it's at...

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought the tranny issues was only on the 1st year's model and they fixed the tranny issue on the new model GTR's?

Regarding the issue with GT-R's tranny issue... Was that something common? Or mainly with GT-R's that people used on the tracks every weekend?

Common enough to have owners sign an agreement when purchasing a new GTR. Nissan saids it's from abuse of the launch control system, the owners say why can't I use the launch control system if my car is quipped with it. Launch control makes the R35 deadly from a complete stop, without using this feature it could not and would not compete/beat many Super/Hypercars it does currently.

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought the tranny issues was only on the 1st year's model and they fixed the tranny issue on the new model GTR's?

The transmission remains the same, they decreased the RPM when using launch control which has provided a temporary bandaid to the problem, meaning that it will take longer for the transmission to let go. Basically the problem is from the wheelhop associated with the launches...the second problem has to do with grit getting into the solenoids causing the loss of 1/2 the gears.

Here is more on the issue including the upgrade prices...

Don't get me wrong I love the GTR, but if I ever bought one I would have to plan on upgrading the transmission asap.

so a 2011 GTR will set you back 84,000 dollars

a clutch pack by SSP will be $1599.00
a transmission cooler by Willall Racing $2995.00
transmission fluids by Willall racing $600.00

upgrade for the gear box internal

Dodson Input shaft Circlip $150

Magnet kit $50

O-Ring Kit $100

4wd gearlock Circlip $275

Uprated A Clutch Seal and Piston $1550

Uprated B Clutch Seal and Piston $1280

Uprated A Basket Output $1440

Uprated B Bastet Output $1440

Clutch shaft Piston Seals $100

PPG Gear set 1-6 gear $10296

Willall Racing WR35CC Gear Fastening System $370

WR35PS Piston Seal Replacement $390

WR35CCL Clutch Retaining Clips $150

UPGRADING the transmission to bullet proof status(all prices above added) $22.000 - 23,000 more or less.

so buying a brand new GTR (84,000) plus upgrading the transmission so you can safely use the launch control system(around 22,000)

that woud make a great car become a Badass car for $106,000

now a porsche 911 GT3 start at 112,200 mostly loaded at $132,800...

i dont know.. but i think the GTR is still cheaper(within the price range given) even after upgrading the transmission..

just my 2 cent...

Yeah it'll be best bang for the buck new, but still not far off from a ZR1.

I have been looking and can get a used GTR for 65Gs here with a couple thousand miles, comparing it to the other cars I listed it is still more expensive than them. The 996 911 Turbo would be around 45Gs, ZO6 50Gs, Lotus Espirit V8 40Gs, killer deal on a 2011 GT500 at 47Gs with 900 miles on her, E55 around 32Gs unless I sacrifice mileage then around 25Gs, E60 M5 high 30s to mid 40Gs, and C63 55Gs. Of course I am not ready yet, it'll be a couple years *hopefully* but I am keeping my eyes on the used market.

Yeah you are right...but I think they were trying to recapture the Audi Quattro Turbo...

Awesome. If this T5 is anything like the old one, expect massive upgrade potential. I do think they could have made it look a lot more like the original Quattro though. This concept looks like it got an extra helping of "trendy" in the design room. Maybe they'll tone it down for production...
Regarding the GT-R comparison; If the pricing is comparable I'd take the Audi in a heartbeat for three reasons. First, I feel like the GT-R has been over-hyped and as a result lost a lot of it's initial appeal. Maybe I'm alone on this one but I don't get the same feeling seeing a GT-R and it's obligatory "cool guy" driver that I get seeing any other $85K car on the street. In that land of the "wow factor", godzilla is extinct. At this point I'd rather have an R34.
Second, Nissan has nothing on Audi's level of comfort and interior refinement. As I rarely go to the track and am hardly capable of pushing either car to IT'S limit, a few ticks more or less on a spec sheet is far less valuable than road trip worthy suspension. I'm sure I could have the same amount of underwear-ruining fun with either choice.
Finally, I would never sign a warranty waiver. That's just silly. At least when Audi makes a bunk transmission they cover the repairs under warranty... My 05 Audi had trans problems under warranty once. I called my local dealer (NOT where I bought the car) who promptly drove a tow truck to my home, picked up my car, then brought it back when the repair was done. The whole thing cost me $0 and 10min for the phone call. I'd happily pay more for that piece of mind and hassle-free service.
