Finally got round to signing up, been following this site for a year now, IS saved my (infiniti) life back then after I purchased my FX, car had one giant problem and nobody had a clue what it was, including the head mechanic at Nissan. After long nights on the net I came across an old thread on IS that turned out to be my rescue! Been grateful to this site ever since!

Welcome to the site Tony, glad you finally signed on.

Welcome to :iS2: Tony.
So what was that "giant problem" you had even the head Nissan mechanic had no clues about? ;)

Thanks guys for the warm welcome's, my "giant problem" was that after 1 week the FX had starting problems, I had to cranck it repeatedly en when it finally started it ran very uneven for a couple of minutes, then it ran fine. This got worse by the week, after 2 months the mechanic had replaced the camshaft sensors, fuel pumps, battery, threw in some additives and even checked the remotes, funny thing was, after each change the FX would start perfectly......... for 1-2 weeks, and then he would try the next thing. In the meantime I sat up nights on the net looking for info, and after all the usual solutions that weren't working I finally hit a post (on IS) about a guy with the same problem, he had finally fixed it by changing the AC amplifier!! I talked to the mechanic about it and funny thing was, he had also looked it up at home and stumbled on the same story but told me that that he could see no reason how a AC amplifier could affect starting a car. Finally I said, look, at my own risk, just replace that thing! The Dutch Infiniti dealer wanted 1400$ for that little plastic box, and I didn't even know if that was the solution. I ended up ordering it from the states where it costs about 200$, with shipping and taxes I ende up paying 700$, after 2 weeks it arrived and for a crate of beer the mechanic replaced the AC amplifier. As you guy's probably already knew, the FX started perfectly and has been doing so ever since (this was a year ago)! My eternal thank's to IS!!!!

Hahaha, that's awesome to hear. I hope your AC amplifier problem is an isolated one on the 2nd Gen. Many 1st Gen also have this problem, but seems like it more prominent when the weather is cold out for the 1st Gen.

To la fx35, my FX is a 2008, that is a first gen, right? or do you guy's call 03-06 first gens and 06-08 second gens?? by the way, this all happened mid summer. so cold weather wasn't in play

My bad. I thought yours was 2nd Gen (09 - current). 1st Gen is 03 - 08.

Do you happen to know what the part number for the AC amplifier was? I think I may need to replace mine. Going to try the battery and plugs first but have a feeling this is the issue with my 2006.
