Hi, new guy here, and I'm to start by uping this thread by several years: I thank a lot Dr.2K's answer here and the "How to remove the shift knob?" subject on infinitifx.org.
Short story: got myself a used 2005 FX35 with low mileage a few days ago; the ashtray would not close nor move, and I was pretty sure I was seeing a coin on the right side in the mechanism; thanks to this thread I was able to unmount the console around the shifter. And there was 2.25 dollars in 25 (6X), 10 (5X), 5 cents (4X) and 1 cent (10X), plus a lonely 0.01€ (???) under the ashtray and all over the place under the sifter. I'm amazed nothing got short-circuited
So now I have a used FX35 with working and closing ashtray. Feel like I deserve getting myself a beer with all that money
