Anyway of making FX steering a little stiffer?

Hey guys, so i was wondering if theres a way to stiffen the FX's steering? its a little too light, any nooks , bumps on the road is noticeable even for this big SUV, i took my car in to the dealership yesterday and received a G37 AWD 2011, the steering is stiffer, the roads on the way to work didnt make my car go left or right, the steering wheel would move when i hit a bump but it would go back to straight, where as the fx, you can feel it pull when ya hit a bump or an uneven road, hoping theres a way to stiffen it up?

Your FX must have a problem because when I go over a bump or anything the steering stays perfectly aligned and doesn't start pulling to one side.

lame ;/ i just got her ;/ brand new 2 months, and its always been like that, maybe, crappier roads in seattle , ever reach a traffic light and the road where u come to a full stop isnt smooth so the steeering goes nuts? while stopping it flies left and right

the 2006 fx i had wasnt as light at the steering, liked that more, zzz

umm while braking?? what about doing 65-75mph when you slightly brake does your steering wheel vibrate??

no, its perfect in higher speeds, straight as can be, just at low speeds, approaching a light, some lights here where the line you stop at is, its not smooth so it'll go left n right (steering wheel) but when its smooth, it'll slightly go left or right, same roads on the G37, no probs at all!

This is called tramlining. It has to do with the tires following cracks and seams in the roadway during braking. You could try rotating the tires and adjusting the tire pressure a little bit. I'm not crazy with the OEM tires either.

Mine had the exact same problem since new until I changed the front tires. It was especially bad on the asphalt roads that are rutted by semi's. Mine done fine art Highway speeds but if I didn't have both hams on the wheel it would steer pretty violently and practically rip the wheel from my hand. Had it aligned several times and never made any difference.

Change at least the front tires

Your tires are trailing from the road surface, nothing wrong. Typical with a RWD

Go buy a GTspec STB it will stiffen up the steering a bit.

I have the same issue and was told it is the OEM tires. The Bridgestone tires are noisy and give a rough ride. I'm open to suggestions on tires as I'm going to replace all 4 this spring.

Just to add some context, I have a 2nd Gen 2010 FX35 and a 2010 G37x sedan. The G37's steering wheel is noticeably stiffer than the FX, so what you are experiencing is normal for the FX. Maybe due to the FX having larger, wider and heavier tires, by design the power steering is more boosted compared to the G37. Also, the G37 is probably by design to be not as light due to its sporty intent.

Overall G37 is probably designed to be more stiffer, as a sports sedan.

What size wheels do you have? I have a 2011 FX35 AWD. I went from OEM 18's to OEM 20's and the car definitely seems more planted overall. Just a thought.

Are u driving on those crappy bridgestones? Pretty sure that's the issue. Had the same thing on my QX50 until I changed the tires. Like I had a new car...

But also, the g37s is stiffer for sure.

The other way to stiff up the steering feel is to upgrade to larger tires.
