Anyone NOT affected by the bubbling dash?

Hi there,

ever since ownership of the fx45 i have been paranoid as heck about the bubbling dash. my vehicle has never had the dash replaced (fingers crossed that i never have to) and i know that the extended warranty is now over.

I have a 2004 infiniti fx45 with the willow interior.

has anyone out there NOT been affected by the dash bubbling?

it seems like from all the threads i've read that its only a matter of time....so just wondering if its true that this affects all the FX's!

This issue is totally unacceptable. I live in Michigan (not exactly an extreme hot climate) and my dash panel has bubbles everywhere. I've got a 2006 Cadillac with no issues with the same mileage of 70,000 and both are garage kept. In fact, the Infinity get parked in a parking garage during the day. These instrument panels are supposedly tested against all the usual cleaning/conditioning chemicals frequently used, so there should be no problems. I use a damp towel on mine, so unless water is considered a harsh cleaning agent, I think mine should have been fine. Poor quality is the only reason this issue is coming out. Is there only one guy in the entire country that is filing class action lawsuits on this issue??

i think it said in the legal brief that too much water was used in the manufacturing process. even the re-designed ones have the same issues.

Anyone look into getting a dash panel reupholstered by an interior specialist? Can't be more than the $2400 quoted for a replacement that will bubble again.

it's a pain to take the dash out and put it back in correctly so it doesn't squeak. there's a video on youtube on it. that is almost half of the cost right there. then you have to peel off the melting and bubbling skin or else it'll eventually lift whatever you glued to it. probably a wash but you'll end up with something nicer and will last.
