I was wondering if anyone has heard how the kakumei catback exhaust sounds?and is it a DIY install?thanx
Yes, DIY, as long as you can get under the car and PB blaster the bolts so they come off easily. Also will need a hand on the rear section muffler, to hold it up while you bolt it on.
This is sort of like a HKS exhaust.
No one has this that I am aware of. Will be hit or miss if you like the exhaust note, probably just a universal muffler -- but Kakumei is quality like everyone else said. I have their y pipe too.
Just note you might get a rattle from the mid pipe hitting the W brace or heat shields, sometimes the dimensions of the mid pipe aren't 100%, as there is very little margin for error on this piece. Even the HKS would hit, so I had to buy a polyurethane exhaust hanger. Others have used another exhaust hanger welded on, especially NISMO owners b/c due to the extra weight of the mid pipe.
Note this is 2.5" all around. NISMO is nice because it's 3.0". Just something to think about.
Get the exhaust you like and want -- spending a little extra now for a part that will stay on your car for years will be worth it. Like the Stillen note? Invidia? HKS? Nismo? etc... get the one you want! Kakumei can sound awesome -- or not, unfortunately none of us have tried. But note it's a single exhaust, like NISMO and HKS, not true dual.
