Anyone have experience with Extended Warranties?

2011 FX50
So, I just bought my 2011 FX50, and even though it is in near perfect condition, I plan to keep it for 5-10 years. After having just rid myself of my problem child Grand Cherokee, I am heavily considering an extended warranty.

Has anyone had any experience with the Infiniti extended warranty? Going through warrantyninja, for the best quotes, but just curious to see what everyone here as dealt with.

If I understand Manufacturer extended warranties, say a 96month warranty, that time period is from manufacturer/sale date when it was new, not when I buy the extended warranty.
 
I did buy one from Infiniti dealership for my 2011 FX35. I was told it will be from the date that I purchased. (thaz why it's called "extended warranty", no?)

That was my initial thought, but after some reading around the web, my impression is that it just tacks on to the original warranty, in terms of length. But I am not sure...
 
Thaz so weird. Here is what I think you should do.... listen carefully, ok. Very important...... ready..... "call the dealership" lol
 
Was glad to have it despite nothing big "going wrong" on the car. Tacks on to existing warranty, can't have a gap. Mine just expired in January of this year - the car is an 09.
 
What if you purchased the car CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) and has extended warranty on it already, can you extend the extended warranty?

That is what I was afraid of. Mine is under the mileage of the original warranty, I think, but the time limit has definitely expired. 2011.
