Anyone ever have issues with water puddles on the floor mats?

Today was the first real day of rain since i got the car and i noticed a puddle on the passenger mat (hard plastic fortunately) i noticed it a bit late i think since nothing along the headliner felt wet or damp and i didn't see any run trails from under the glove box. Is this usually a leak in the windshield? I did have my front windows down a little but i doubt it came from that. I was trying to remeber if maybe i knocked over a water bottle or something and just didn't notice? Sucks i have to wait til it rains again to find out.

SO i just happen to come across a youtube video of a guy with the same issue and it's most likley the drain tube for the moon roof being clogged. guess i'll try shooting some compressed air down there and avoid having to take apart the pillar cover and headliner.

Having water intrusion is never a fun experience but I'm hoping it's the common issue some of us have experienced before. On the passenger side cowl (lower plastic trim below the windshield) are holes that allow water to drain. Underneath the cowl is the intake for the cabin air filter. There's a tubular grey foam seal on the cowl groove that is supposed to seal against the edge of the lower windshield to prevent water from draining between the glass and cowl. If for some reason that seal is damaged, missing or cowl is incorrectly installed, water will drain into the cabin air intake and spill out on the floor/mat.

To see if that's the issue I'd open the hood, take out all the clips on the plastic trim surrounding the battery and remove the cowl to see if water was spilled inside.

I'm going to post some photos a bit later to explain better. Stay tuned.

Took these without pulling apart the trim.

The one photo shows the drain holes in the passenger side cowl.

The other photo shows the cabin air intake just behind the battery.

I'd take all the trim apart including the cowl and see if there's any water remnants inside the cabin air intake. You'll be able to also see the filter. At thisnpoint you can inspect the foam seal on the side of the cowl. Take your time taking apart the cowl. There's a few clips to remove. There's one just behind the engine. There's also a tab you need to push to separate the passenger cowl from the driver side cowl. Remember to pull off the seal off the passenger cowl that sits across both cowl. The passenger side cowl will be attached to a rubber corner piece near the fender. You can unclip it from the cowl.

It's possible the cowl isn't seated correctly or has missing clips.

I've also heard there being a chance it could be a coolant leak. The heater core is on the passenger side as well. But you'd smell it if it was.

Have you had the car for a while and is this the first time it happened?

I can almost guarantee it is your sunroof drain. As you state get compressed air and gently fire it down there to clear any debris out of it.

You dont have to wait till it rains again to check it, just turn on a hose and spray water on the roof.

I haven't had the car long but I did end up doing my best cleaning out the drains with some compressed air. A starbuck straw fit quite nicely in the drain hole from the sunroof along with the air gun ha. I did order new gromit drain plug things incase the seals were dried up or cracked. Suppose to get some rain soon so I'll find out if it still leaks soon enough

This is a ongoing issue with Infiniti and I experienced it on 4 separate personal vehicles. Its 1000% the sunroof drain that everyone talks about. Iv removed the tube and added a bigger one but it was a lot of unnecessary work. Above the battery on the top left if you remove all of the trim youll see the drain filter its a yellow hard object. The tip of it clogging causes water to leak back in to the vehicle making a puddle. I either remove the whole thing and extend the tube out into the engine bay or break the filter tip off as its unnecessary to filter a out drain. Havent had any problems with any vehicle since doing this.
