Anybody ever clean their stock head unit cd player?

My cds have been getting increasingly skippy lately. A stereo shop guy in passing said to stick that canned air in the slot,,but isn't there a door that needs to be opened?

Any help would be appreciated.

There are different way to clean the CD player.
For one, you can use a Laser-cleaning disc. It's basically a disc with tiny bristles on the back that cleans the laser lens while it "plays."

As for the suggestion by your stereo shop guy, you can remove the radio bezel/faceplate and spray..
but it seems the mechanism that takes/ejects the discs is a closed mechanism. It takes/ejects discs by rolling two bars together..
Here's an old pic of when I was fixing the CD player, don't mind the white annotation.. but look to the right half of the pic and you'll see the grey bar.
