Another Wet Carpet - Help

Hi All - I've gone through the threads about the sunroof drains and I've cleared those. However, I'm still getting a wet, mildew smell in my car, I'm assuming from water draining into my footwells and soaking the sound deadening material or carpets.

Are there other drains that could be clogged? In my BMW e30 M3, there was a rubber little snorkel with a pinched/flattened end that would get clogged up and then cause water draining from the bottom of the windshield area to make it's way into the cabin. Do our cars have that and if so, how do I clean them out?

Thanks

I had the same problem and thought it was the sunroof drains as well. It ended up being the small foam rope seal on the plastic cowl at the bottom of the windshield. I pulled the cowl off, cleaned and reinstalled with a silicone sealant. I haven't had a leak since. You could just run a small bead of silicone at the top edge of the cowl if you don't want to fully remove it.

The cowl seal part number is 668301CA0B if you want to stick with the OEM part.

Dennis - Thank you. I'll look into this as soon as it stops RAINING... haha.

I suggest you get it done asap. The BCM is in the passenger footwell and water can easily damage it. I recommend that you remove the kick panel to the right of the glovebox and have someone more water at the bottom of the windshield while you check for leaks. If any water shows up, then it is definitely the cowl seal. If the weather isn't cooperating, just run a quick bead of clear silicone on the upper edge of the cowl where it touches the windshield.

Is the window trim still in good shape?
Sorry, which window trim are you referring to? If you mean the 1/4" wide piece that meets at the bottom of the windshield under a little 1" piece, well, it's in OK shape, it appears to have shrunk. Why?
