Another IS member who got into an accident today :(

So I dropped my friend off on the corner of Bay Ridge Parkway and Ridge Blvd in Brooklyn, and proceeded to the red light. There was a guy on a 1999 Corolla (I believe) in front of me. In a matter of seconds he throws his car and reverse spins his tires out, and attempts to park. He doesnt look in his side mirror/rear mirror or check his blind spots. I have enough time to beep when he scrapes the hell out of the right side of the front bumper(right before the sensor(thank god). I obviously jump out cursing at him. He has the balls to say that i hit him from behind. Which I guess is his only option if he wants to go scot-free. However, what he does not know is that there was a witness, who saw the whole thing. He quickly changed his story around when he realized. He begged me not to call the cops(to my understanding, he might of been under the influence of Alcohol) I ended up calling them since he lied to me. He did not want to pay me off and asked if he could call his insurance. I told him to wait for the cops. He begged and begged but to no avail. Witness had to leave as the cops were taking 2+ hours. I took her info down and told her I would call if i needed to. In the meantime, the driver of the corolla insists he has to use the bathroom, after i mentioned that he smells like alcohol.(conveniently) After telling him that I would mention to the cops that he left the scene, he still persisted. After returning he goes back to his story of me hitting him, after noticing that the witness left. The cops finally come and he comes clean right away. Oh I forgot to mention that he works at dealership. He offered me to fix my car for free without getting the insurance company involved at the dealerships shop. ( Should I do anything to insure that he gets the job done, efficiently and free?)

All of this for testing out the gopro hero 2. =( My car is only 3 weeks old =( less than 400 miles Spotted a white fx in bay ridge though. Black stock rims. Black grille, tinted glass/tails

Here are some pictures from the accident. Thankfully, my bumper only had scratches and no cracks/dents.

And this is his bumper:

Ouch!! Good luck with the fix and it is good no one was injured.

Damn man that sucks. Sorry to hear about this. As long as you have that police report, i'd go after his ass and make him fix your fx like it was new. Looks like you need the bumper repainted. Goodluck with everything and the white fx you seen in that area might be mikefx35.

sux to hear that, guess it's inevitable... to keep a nyc/bklyn vehicle scratch free is impossible.
good luck with the repairs.

Friggin liars. Cant stand people like that. So glad you had a witness, hope everything works out for you.

You should def contact your insurance company bc it's a brand new FX. Plus if he does it at his dealership what makes you think they will do a good job. He might just do a a half job and just reprint half of the bumper instead of doing the whole bumper. That's just my opinion.

Do not trust this guy. He has given you absolutely no reason to believe anything he says. Proceed as if he's a stranger and do not get involved with him.

That guy's a douche. Don't let him touch anything on your car. I'm skeptical if he even works at any dealership.

Thanks for the reassurance and advice guys. He said he works at the parts and service shop of bay ridge nissan and he was wearing their mechanic uniform so I dont know. Im willing to take it to his shop and see what he does and how he does it(complete supervision) as you guys said he is not someone to trust. If worst comes to worst Ill just pay out of my pocket at reputable body shop.

Yeah but why would you pay out of your pocket if he's not reliable? But if your comfortable with him doing your work then I say go for it. Seeing that he works at Nissan might be a good thing. Hopefully it all works out for u

Oh no, he's fixing it for free since he is at fault. The problem is that i dont know if he does decent work or not. If he does a poor job then i'll have to go to another shop and pay.

Just looking at his car and hearing this story, I'd never let him touch my FX. I'm sorry to hear this happened, hope it gets fixed to perfection soon!

Damn every one getting into car accident i got intoo one last week 5900 to get front fix thank god i had full cover good luck with the fix

I personally would just go through insurance, i mean what are you going to drive while your cars gettng fixed? Atleast insurance will give you a rental. Since its not your fault your rates shouldn't go up either. He works at the dealership but he's not a body man. Just cause you work at a dealership i doubt the body shop will fix it for free. So since he has to pay anyways, i would take the money from him and go elsewhere. Just show him two different quotes. If he doesn't give you the money right away i would then go through insurance

At the end of the day these are just vehicles. As much as i love my fx i always remember its a material thing. The damage isn't that bad and you're not hurt
