Yes sir, done with my med school rotations/internship in May, won't be coming back even though it's been awesome here except the weather lol

That's too bad Rip. I was the same way, I was going to come when they were talking June, but the new dates were way too early for me.
I was hoping to meet up with you while you were in Chicago. if I make it to Cali this Fall I will make sure to meet up with you this time.
I left Chicago many years ago...doesn't stop me from coming back to hang out with the Chicago crew.

. Your parents live around Chicago, don't they? I had 3 children and travelling is easier when they are that age. We used to drive 5 hours each way all the time to visit our parents.

Things have changed a lot over the last year or two. To be honest, Kim and I dread driving to Chicago. We both hate the drive and try to avoid it as much as possible. My family comes to visit us now a few times a year by train. They enjoy that much more as well. Kim's mom left Chicago a few months back and she is now in Minnesota with Kim's sister. So Kim has no family left in Chicago.
I wouldn't necessarily agree traveling is easier. The drive may be fine, but the destination not always since my parents house is extremely small. Having 2 english bulldogs, Kim and I in a twin, Gabby, and then a new baby in a small room is not what I consider (nor does Kim) an easy travel. All the packing that goes along with children and 2 dogs, unpacking, and so much more that goes into it....
We would rather drive to places we haven't been together, like NY, CA, etc. The Chicago drive feels like a chore, not a vacation like any other destination would be. Hope that makes sense. I really do enjoy the meets, meeting, and hanging out with you guys. It makes the hell trip worth it.
I understand Jonas. It was different for us, my Mom didn't drive and It was a long trip for Karen's parents. We felt it very important for the kids to see their grandparents at least once a month so we always went the 5 hour drive every month with the 3 kids and the dog.

Just an idea... How bout a "mini" meet for anyone local before RIP leaves? Than have the official one in May.
Meet up somewhere have a bite to eat and a few beers before he goes away...
Def would love to meet you as well Wayne, if you do make it out to Cali keep in touch and we can set up a mini meet
