Annual Midwest Spring/Fall Area Meet in Chicago

Nice shot Andy.there are good and bad points to be made for having a blurred background and not blurred. I think it looks cool. You are able to see the buildings still while having the car show movement.

I think really depends on the background to what is preferred. Both have positives and negatives. But I think the blurred background in general usually comes out better. Keep them coming!

Here are 12 rolling shots that made the cut (the previous ones were technically called panning shots for those curious).

I took these shots while driving about 60mph, steering with my knees, signaling the guys on when to come, where to go, and when to stop accelerating with my left hand (for some this worked very well others not so much), and holding the camera with my right while using 1/30 shutter and body turned sideways. I was swerving and I got honked at multiple times. I'm sure many of guys thought I was crazy. But anything for my iS friends!

If we were more organized... had a better highway background location, was able to be in the back seat instead with 2 hands, I can't imagine what kind of pictures we would have....and I probably would had been able to take several at 1/20 making it even more pronounced. We'll have to try again some time.

Andy/Zebra, did either of you guys take a picture of me?

Awesome shots Jonas. Putting any lives on the line for IS's viewing pleasure! One month too late for rolling shot ROTM! Would have been the toughest vote ever

Jonas was it making sure his collision/lane departure features were still working. Thanks for the shots Jonas, came out pretty good!

She was just beeping and complaining at me the whole time. It wasn't happy so I learned quickly to tune her out. Hehe

Glad to have you shooting at this meet. I'm disappointed with pretty much all the pics I took.

Thanks!

That's too bad Andy...you must had been relaxing too much knowing Zebra and I were taking pics too!

------------

Of all the panning and rolling shots, what are all of your top 3 .... for that professional look? I'd like to post 2 maybe 3 on my facebook page and am having a hard time deciding.

+1 big ups to Jonas for his hard work on the pics, thanks man

On that note...here are a few teasers for the much better quality Jonas has. (I don't know what I'm doing) but here we go

I really like this one but it is super noisy and just not good. Cool I got the train in the background though

Your photos are great Andrew, especially since you didn't do editing on them from a computer.

I wouldn't be too concerned about noise. Most people don't care. You can't even see noise in your pic since I can't zoom into it. Almost all of Ken's photos have a ton of noise in them (anytime he's been doing night, b&w, or HDR) so just because your photo has noise doesn't mean it's a bad photo. Did you use ISO 100 on these like I said?
