Annual Midwest Spring/Fall Area Meet in Chicago

Post pics here and then a link for higher res if people want.. I'm way toooo lazy to go through links :-)

I'm already doing that.

You guys don't have to use the link to view the image. There are 2 images so far. Both are shown on this thread. I'm just stating if you want high res you can click on it to get there. Unlike photobucket that most people use on here, flickr you can get the original resolution while photobucket they compress the image.

I just did it online and you show up on my app. Weird I couldn't find it searching though

Andrew, what are you searching for? Both images are here on this thread thus far and if you want to download or look at the high resolution of it just click on the image and it will take you to flickr to view/download the original photo.

As I post more images, you will be able to do the same.

Yep she the one. Wait I thought you're complete focus on taking pictures of Chris and daughter.

My focus was on Chris and his beautiful daughter and then all of a sudden she was behind me trying to help make Chris' daughter laugh as I take photos of Chris and his daughter. Chris wasn't smiling before and then he had the biggest grin for awhile.

She tapped my shoulder and gave me the ticket and only until then noticed it was her helping, but I quickly went back to focus on Chris' daughter.

By the way, it's raining pretty hard here in LaGrange. The meet would had not worked out if it was today.

I think going forward we should do it Saturdays for 2 reasons:

1. Sunday can always be the backup rain day.
2. In general I think it allows more out of state midwest people to participate because then they have Sunday to travel back.

Had a great time time folks. Good turn out, as usual. It was nice to meet some new people. Loved the cruise part:ninja:

teaser picture(I didn't take any rolling shots unfortunately, maybe next time, just panning ones. Jonas should have some awesome rolling pictures)

^ haha nice. Looks like out of a movie.

I'm still categorizing the photos I have....I deleted already many panning and rolling.

^Deleted more than half of the panning shots I took, so it's should be normal for a first try...

Ian and I talked a bunch about the panning shots. I have panning where it's very focused on either front, middle, or end and it's impossible to do panning where the whole car is in focus unless you are viewing it directly in front of you and that is typically boring shot. Like the one you posted the front is in focus, but not the back. Mine are all this way either very clear front, very clear middle, very clear back, or boring shot in the middle so I find myself not liking any panning shots.

I just remembered that we were talking about that. Forgot about depth of field thing... :)

actually it's not about depth of field or about focus at all. I waisted so much time thinking it was focus when doing the panning shots at that building Sat.....and my aperture was smallest it could be and it didn't matter. Both matter, but there is an important additional factor. Ian (PMG) was explaining it well.....basically since you are not moving but the car is but you focus on one point lets say the front of the car, the front of the car is moving faster than the rear of the car because the rear of the car is farther than the front of the car.

If that is hard to understand think of it this way....when you see a car from very far left it's moving hardly at all, but when it gets closer it looks like it's moving a lot faster even though in both spots it was going the same speed. Same thing applies when you are doing panning. So unless you like the look of something being not in focus (which I don't and I think most don't) then you won't be able to accomplish this unless the car is perfectly in front of you when you take the picture.

Andy knew this and only took 1 or 2 photos just when the car was in front. You and I were taking pictures left and right as well. However, when the car is right in front it looks a little more boring to me and definitely more difficult since that is when it's going the fastest (right in front of you).

OK, you probably right guys. Learn something new every day.

I was able to fix some 3/4 panning shots in LR, they are not perfect though.
