Annual Midwest Spring/Fall Area Meet in Chicago

I am in,if we go to the planetarium, where are we taking pictures? We have a spot in mind to park extra cars while we get some pictures in? Or everyone just cruising and taking turns? How is it working? We seem to have a half ass plan That I could see us wasting time on. Not that I have a solution? Just don't want time wasted if we thing rolling shots will take some time.

I would be in for 6:45 if that is what people decide. Seems the count for this is struggling. I will be checking periodically but if imiss something late tonight, can you text me Jonas? I should get it all and will check early morning too.

Going to be a good day. I may miss the kilt that some say is tilted. The puppy duty will call in the afternoon unfortunately.

So After speaking with Dave, a hotel manager car enthusiast in downtown Chicago, and another car enthusiast that lives in the city UIC area, we are officially meeting at 3am at the planetarium.

Dave is driving 5 hours from Ohio and is coming only for this meet. I drove almost 5 hours from Michigan only for this meet. We don't want to do this half ass. I hope everyone understands.

Anyone can take photos next to a building, on the top of a parking structure, in a park, in a suburb street, or by buildings that is usually deserted after hours. We already have plenty of these. Its time to take them to the next level. You get the point.

However not everyone has shots in the busiest places of downtown Chicago in the center of a street just as an example. We are thinking if doing it all: night, rolling, sunrise, etc. We are after what most would call the impossible shots. And these photos can then be printed poster size quality if we wanted to.

Dave and I have many ideas already of exactly what we are going to do after talking. By 3:30am we will have scoped out all the best highest traffic areas, the lighting from the city, where the skyscrapers and bridges look best, etc to determine the shots we want and then take them. The city looks amazing at these times.

For those desiring photos, no worries since all day Saturday we plan to take pictures just like we always do every time we have a big Midwest meet.

If anyone is interested in joined Dave and I please PM me and we can exchange #s. We may hang out at Dave's hotel if we get all the photos we want with time to spare before the meet officially begins which by the way can be changed to 8am if u really wanted to get an earlier start with the dim sum to get more time for photographs during the day. I will leave this up to Andy as he is running this. I am running the downtown night time, early morning photo shoot.

And to be frank, this wouldn't work with many FXs. 2 or 3 is perfect and 4 is probably max but I suspect this wont bring a big turnout anyway. However anyone interested in a very unique photoshoot done with a professional camera for an optimal time and place with an opportunity that doesn't come around please PM me.

We are very excited about seeing everyone Sat at Dim Sum!

OMG :eek.::eek.:,,, 3AM, you guys are nutz. I really don't think you will have to worry about too many FX's showing up at that time.

Exactly! And I hope every Chicago citizen feels the same way and decides to keep their ass asleep and off the streets! :)

Jonas has got the chicago meet called up to the big leagues!

Once in a "lifetime" (loosely based) experience! Count me in if numbers aren't too high. But this assures me that I prob won't be out much after dim sum. At least I won't have to worry about traffic on the way downtown.

Great I have work, go home, wash my car quickly, eat and go to sleep. Text me whatever may be needed Jonas.

Strongly recommend you guys watch your backs. While 3 am sounds like the streets are all yours, this is Chicago after all so don't get your hopes up shooting at the more favored addresses. PS cops are also more about due to recent crimes.

Agreed, I think like the planetarium will be empty around there, but like lake shore, eh, and in the heart of the city eh, city will live on in some parts at 3 but for the most part I think it should be pretty clear.

so are people still meeting at the planitarium at 7am? im going to try to make (late night at work) but i will also bring the g/f, as we have plans in the city around 2pm so no point in going all the way home. Anyone else bringing their significant other? lol

Gentlemen, is it okay to bring the wifey for breakfast? I can always drop her off downtown if not, she's planning on taking off afterward (breakfast).

I wish I could have made it also Rip.
It's going to be a fun day for you guys tomorrow.
Enjoy and be safe.
