Angel Eye and Modded DTRL

so i finally assembled these bad boys yesterday in the hopes of getting them on my car this weekend. i took a look at them today, and i realized that the larger angel eye actually touches the inside of the lense. so much so that it pushed it to the side, and actually exposed a good amount of the double stick tape used to hold them in place. i have to admit that i would love to get them on, but it is only going to be a matter of time before it gets to me to the point where i have to remove them and take them apart again to fix it. i think i'm going to just bite the bullet and do it right the first time. pretty depressing

bro i have taken mine off to fix in 2 days like 3 or 4 times

first time was that the lense was not that clean
second time was the AE's on the turn signal fell off on both sides
and the third time is that water got inside and had to remove it to wipe it down and then reseal
the fourth time is the same thing water got in

so yea for me now takin them apart only takes like 20 mins or even less to take it apart clean reglue and blah blah blah and reseal

what a pain in the @$$. i actually used some 0.008" stainless steel wire as a belt and suspenders. so even though the double stick taped is all F'ed up, they are still on there good because the wire is holding up just fine. the only reason i have to open them again is because seeing that tape in there exposed looks hack and will drive me INSANE.

Yes, that was one of the issues we ran into when doing these angel eyes with the first wave of angel eye adopters. What we ended up doing was using some washers to give a little extra clearance for the larger angel eye bulb but still keeping the ability to seal them correctly.

AE's look cool and all - but I havent done it cuz its just a pain in the ass.....too many issues. :err: Everytime I read the AE threads it just makes me feel better that I didnt jump on this....lol carry on

+1 on that.

+1 on the +1.

I'm not doing any AE untill/unless an official kit ocmes out that is known to have no problems and such. I don't want ot have to open and reseal mine all the time. I don;t really have an acessable oven at school haha. might as well not bother witht he extra hassle:tongue:

looks goooooood. i think it would look even better if ur dtrl was two tiny strips instead of one big rectangle, but this setup looks great nonetheless

It's a direct swap, just buy an LED bulb that fits the socket size.

And also make sure the width of the bulb is no more than 20mm...you'd think they wouldn't make them wider than that in 7440 socket but they do. :k:
