Okay so i was thinking (just a thought) would it be possible to take either the Injen or Stillen cold air intakes for the G37 and retro fit it to fit on to the 09 FX? some guy of another forum said he did something like that as to where he sliced and diced and put it all together where he was able to fit it on to his 2010 G37 sedan.

when i talked to Injen at Stillen open house they told me that since 03 first when the FX came out they tried making Intakes but for some reason they could not get it to produce power for the FX. and he also went on to say there are companies out there stating they have applications where they get it to produce power but they dont see how they did that because "Injen" has one of the best Dyno's and so forth

so what do you guys think is this possible?

Here is the Injen Application

You're going to get a lot of varying opinions on this one. I've done quite a lot of research on this very topic myself and have my own resulting opinions... As far as the facts, here are a few.
1. Injen did at one point produce and market two different intake systems for the 1st gen FX. A "cold air" and a "short ram" version.
2. The Injen dyno at the time showed that one or both of them increased HP over the stock intake. (I can't remember which)
3. Other very reputable companies (Stillen, and JWT among others) have produced intake systems that they claim increase "power" to the 1st gen FX.
**End of fact list***

No intake is really going to give you incredible increases in HP or TQ but pretty much any decent design will give you a little power, not to mention a cool sound and a little "bling factor" under the hood.

To answer your question, I think both are possible if you are willing to invest some time into the project. Personally, I would go with the Stillen only because of the filter. Stillen uses K&N filters which are superior to that greenish element filter Injen offers. First, call up Stillen and find out the outer dimensions of the filter they are using. Next, go find a G37 and take some basic measurements under the hood. Things like MAF sensor tube diameter, distance from MAF to throttle body, and total intake tube length (from TB to filter) are good places to start. I would bet that a dealer will probably let you poke around if you're nice about it. Finally, compare those measurements to your engine bay and see what you're working with. If everything matches and you can fit the Stillen filter between the radiator and bumper then the rest is basically plumbing, which relatively speaking is pretty easy. If you need more pipes or fittings, a company called Spectre offers both.

Good Luck!

+1 on tchuck - Spectre has generic/modular parts that allow you to build your own custom system. Instead of modifying an existing platform, I think you could get a better fit for less money if you "create your own".

open the catalog and look under, "Air Intake Components (modular)"

http://www.spectreperformance.com/#HOME

Along with some couplers and clamps, this will get you from the Throttle Body to the MAF locations, to the filter - which you can also purchase alone. I would recommend doing a filter comparison to one of the kits out there to make sure you have enough filter surface area when choosing your own.

and the one i believe you are talking about is the shoet ram at stillen At Injen booth the guy said it only produced 3hp only.

Yes, don't expect huge gains from ANY bolt on mods on the FX. We are bigger, heavier and drag more than the Gs or Zs out there, making bolt on mods a little less effective for us than it is for them, even if it is the same exact mod they do.

That being said, I could definitely feel the difference at WOT between OEM and Stillen CAI. And again after the plenum spacer, again after the exhaust, and finally, after the Uprev tune. All of these also increased my MPGs after resetting the ECU.

Do all those things and that's about the most you can ask from your FX in terms of NA bolt-on performance. I also did pulleys and transmission work, but those didn't impact performance as much as they change the "feel" of your FX.

im defenatly going to be looking into everything and if or when i do this project i will qrite up a full detailed on "How to".

I am looking forward to any information you obtain. Keep us updated and good luck.
